Everyone ever has always used "common route" to talk about the part of the game where you're not in a girl's route.

A route that doesn't correspond to a girl is quite rare.

in grisaia there isn't but there is majikoi for example you can chose not to be in a girl's route

Most VNs don't have an entire route where you don't pick a girl, some just have a short bad end if you don't pick one, and very few non-nukige have a harem route/ending, which I guess you could call not picking one of the girls.

Yeah, but I find personal interest in common routes, as a completionist gamer. I cannot stop playing until I have a hundred percent, even if I missed just one dialogue.

I was actually planning on choosing Yumiko for my first play through... Should I just get it over with first since it's so bad or go with Amanae?

yumiko is the worst route in the whole game so i can see where you're coming from but you'll miss out big time if you don't do amane's route

i suggest you play them in this order Makina -> Amane -> Sachi -> Michiru -> Yumiko

 

I agree! amane's route is by far the best (well to me at least)

Amane was mine, then michiru or yumiko, then the other one, then makina, then sachi

 

Originally i was only interested in yumiko, but as i went down amane's route i started to like her a lot more

the order i played it, was Yumiko->Amane->Michiru->Makina->Sachi, haha but yea didn't enjoy much of makina & sachi's, preferred the other 3 a lot more but guess its my personal preference

Finished Amane's route yesterday, and Yumiko's good route today.

 

I have to say, Amane's good ending was probably the saddest good ending I've read. Her story was depressing from start to finish. She couldn't forgive herself until the day she passed away? No closure on Kazuki? Jesus, talk about a burdensome life. I know everyone grows old and ends up in the same place one day, but to see a person's life fleet by like that was depressing. After Yuuji's talk about death being a permanent sleep, it was really unconvincing seeing him taking her to heaven with him. I imagined it was the delusions of an old lady in her final moments.

 

I didn't expect to fall for Yumiko so much. Amane started out being my common route favorite, but Yumiko really hit my soft spot in her route. Her background story was nothing impressive but she is too cute and precious. Her ending was more in line with the kind of ending I expect from a "happy" ending.

 

I'm going to jump into Michiru's route now.

Quick question, do you guys play the bad ends even after you get the good end? It seems kinda pointless to me after I get the good end as it would kill the whole good vibe you know? Or do you guys get the bad ends first on purpose so the good end feels more rewarding?

i myself go for bad then good if i can and if there is a bad one not all games have them. that way, rather than having a happy ending, then going back to the bad one and getting sad, i can just get sad, then get happy from the good ending (if it makes sense) and i like seeing both endings out of curiosity

It is pointless if I do the good end then the bad end it doesn't make sense so I do the bad end first

Makes sense, I just personally don't want to play for 10+ hours of a route to get sad and then do it again to get happy. If that makes sense, unless I really like the VN and want to 100% it.

Don't forget that There could be even some important information in the bad ends so I go for them just to make sure
