Tatsujin Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 No, not yet. Reading Hoshizora pretty slow ... it's getting interesting though. Man I really like the blonde girls and I've yet to meet that girl with the white hair (she looks older than Mare). Quote
madvanced Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I take it that shit is getting real in Comyu? They're sisters, and their names are Komomo (tsundere who keeps kicking You in the shins and hates the Tenkuru) and Kosame (the nicer one that hangs around Asuho and the random guy who takes pictures and is obsessed with finding aliens Mirai). I thought they were the best routes in the VN, but I haven't done Mare's route or the secret route yet. Yep, just reached the story's biggest twist so far. Although I had already seen some of it coming. Quote

Kururin Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I am playing Rewrite, Kawata shoujo (Shizune's route) and plenty on hold or dropped Quote
SilverLi Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I decided to play Sharin no Kuni this coming weekend and starting for real when I arrive home this afternoon and hopefully finish it this weekend/next week. I haven't done anything for 2 - 3 weeks when I got at least 20 VNs on my to do list. Bad Silver. Quote
Vokoca Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 GAREJ GAAAAREJ WHERE YOU AT ITS HAPPENING AW YEAH! You're in for a hell of a ride! On the last route myself. Oh, by the way - I bought Hachimyoujin (man dat artbook), so I should be getting around to it eventually. Might take a short break from hard stuff after Muramasa, but I'm getting there. Quote

Wow, Hurry up and get your masada goodness, Plebian. I should probably take a break from hard shit myself. I just tried Oretsuba and it stomped on me so hard I had to go to something easier like Muramasa. Quote
Chronopolis Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 GAREJ GAAAAREJ WHERE YOU AT ITS HAPPENING HYPE HYPE HYPE. Welcome aboard. Still only half-way through Kanae's route though. Wow, Hurry up and get your masada goodness, Plebian. I should probably take a break from hard shit myself. I just tried Oretsuba and it stomped on me so hard I had to go to something easier like Muramasa. Lol. Well at least Muramasa explains it's own morality explcitly. Is Jackson's writing really that difficult to read though? Quote
Stray Cat Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I finally have time to start playing again. Narcissu 1st and 2nd as soon as the download finishes. EDIT: Apparently there's multiple translations. Any suggestions on which one I should use? Quote
madvanced Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I finally have time to start playing again. Narcissu 1st and 2nd as soon as the download finishes. EDIT: Apparently there's multiple translations. Any suggestions on which one I should use? Well, there's the one on Steam and the one from the official site. Don't think it matters that much, really. He might as well use steam's, if it has a high number of downloads maybe steam will want more VNs other than the already planned Grisaia no Kajitsu. Quote
madvanced Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Only reason I can think of for not using Steam's is not wanting your friends to know that you read/play VNs. Dunno if Stray Cat cares about that or not, though. Fair point, but it isn't a 18+ so it might not be embarrassing to be seen play it. I couldn't care less because I barely have any friends on steam that I really know. Well to each his own. Quote

The medium alone can carry a negative connotation for some people, adult-centered or otherwise. Some people might just be embarrassed having their friends see them play an 'animu game.' To keep it on topic, I'm still crawling my way through Michiru's route in between bouts of studying and procrastination. I hope to finish it sometime tonight or tomorrow and then move on to doing the one route I never got around to reading in Konosora last year. Quote

I hope to finish it sometime tonight or tomorrow and then move on to doing the one route I never got around to reading in Konosora last year. Still, though, part of the appeal of Fuwanovel to some people is being able to access and enjoy VNs with other people anonymously. There's a stigma to VNs, ya know. Some people think that they're just porn, and treat you like a perverted weirdo even if all you read are all-ages VNs. EDIT: Ninja'd >.> I know of the negative connotations the VN medium brings with itself, but not everyone cares about them. I mean, I know what it's like to want to hide the fact you play such games, I do so from my parents, however if I had any friends pestering me about it I would just ignore it. Now to get this back on track, I'm kind of struggling to make progress on Kagome's route, I don't know why since I'm loving the route, but I just seem to be going at a snails pace. Quote
Stray Cat Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Haha, looks like I unintentionally started a debate. Here's the facts: I am using Steam I just set up said Steam account so I don't have any friends on it, nor would I particularly care if they saw. There's 3 options on Steam, original Japanese text and 2 translations. I was just wondering if one was better than the other. Quote
Kururin Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Does Akiba's Trip or Sao:Hollow Fragments counts as VN? I think they are in vn category as they have dialouge and gameplay? Quote
nohman Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Does Akiba's Trip or Sao:Hollow Fragments counts as VN? I think they are in vn category as they have dialouge and gameplay? They have too much interactivity and gameplay to be considered a visual novel. They are no strict definitions, but I usually just use VNDB's guidelines for what I consider to be a visual novel. See: VNDB's FAQ When to add a visual novel Quote

Ayana Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Is Jackson's writing really that difficult to read though? I'm reading Oretsuba right now and it's really... ugh let's just say it takes a lot of patience to wade through because of how "colorful" it is (it has a crapload of "varieties" to it). -.- Literally the only thing helping me read this is the fact that I watched the anime (which is half-good half-bad) and know maybe 1/3 (or possibly less) of the whole VN enough to determine what's being documented in this "colorful" style of japanese. Really, reading japanese or any different language at novice/amateurish levels for that matter is not so much "difficult" as it's just a smaller payoff for putting in more time. One could easily perceive their feelings of laziness in accordance to the payoff they receive as "difficulty" and then think the activity an impossible obstacle to overcome when it's actually not. Please don't be like me and let yourselves get discouraged by this illusion of difficulty that is in reading these famous high-end untranslated VNs (Muramasa, Dies Irae, Asairo, Ruitomo, Oretsuba, Subahibi, etc.). xD They are "uniquely written" in comparison to average fare, and not "difficultly written". Although I guess feelings don't lie, as it truly is difficult to have to sacrifice immersion for the analysis and understanding of what you're reading. Quote
madvanced Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I finally finished all of Comyu's H-Scenes, now I just have to plow through the rest of the story. Quote
hydro Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Slowly working my way through Makina's route. Still in the "funny part", which is nice. Makina and/or Sachi trolling Michiru is one of the best things about Grisaia. Just finished Natsumi's chapter. Hopefully I can get through a decent chunk of Chapter 5 tonight. It was better than I expected it to be, but I still like Sachi's and Touka's better. EDIT: Wow. Some of the things Houzuki is saying strongly remind me of Nineteen Eighty-Four, which, while fitting for the social setting, is pretty damn disturbing. Ken: "Is your purpose to make me surrender to you utterly?" Houzuki: "That is the final exam for one seeking to become a Special High Class Individual. You take a person with money, power, and position, then crush them when they are at the height of their foolish pride. That is how you complete the process of constructing an individual who is especially high class." EDIT x2: Oh my God, I finally learned where Touka got her "I'll murder you!" line from, and that one-liner, and all of her tsundere phrases xD Ririko is a huge troll, and now also one of my favorite characters from Sharin. It's funny because Ririko is a sadist, which means a sadist's favorite way to troll the world is "tsundere creation". Can't fault the logic, personally. Quote
