Decay Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 So, I'm still playing MLA, the only thing i can say now that i dont like about it is that it took almost 10-12 hours to get really good and that's it without muv-luv extreme and unlimited and you wont understand anything really if you dont read it first...so the truth is you need to read like 30-40 hours of a not really good vn just to get to the good part... One question, how much into the story am i so far in terms of % I saw sumika/00 robot for the first time I think due to the way exposition and flashbacks and all that are handled in MLA, it's possible to understand things if you don't read MLE and MLU first, but skipping those will still end up resulting in a lesser overall experience, in my opinion. Like, you will know that Sumika is an important loved one to Takeru but without experiencing that first hand in MLE, a lot of stuff in MLA will lose its impact. It's like hopping into a TV series halfway through, relying on plot summaries to fill in the missing details. You understand everything that's happening, but you find it much more difficult to actually care. Quote

Yeah I guess you will but you are going to miss so many details and stuffs that it wont be the same at the end, so far it's freaking awesome really and I'm glad I took the time to play the first one, I kinda like those types of vn (with romance, bad jokes most of the time, nothing going on just normal school days etc) and even for me was average at best, unlimited was better for sure but still not quite good, finally MLA the first 10-12 hours are almost the same as unlimited, is like playing a game with a learning curve that it's almost impossible to handle Quote
suikashoujo Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I remember having a REALLY hard time getting through the Muv Luv series, and being slightly disappointed at the end. Not to say that Alternative was bad, but I personally didn't think it was quite worth the buildup. Other people loved it though, so that might just be me. As for me, I'm probably about halfway through Minagi's route in Air, a VN I've wanted to read ever since I was an anime-only fan saying "there's a game for that!?" I forgot how adorable Misuzu was though, oh my god. Quote
Decay Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I'm currently playing the SakuSaku partial patch, and am on the Mio route. Oh my god these characters are so god damned stupid. I'm almost pulling my hair out at how frustrating this route is sometimes. Somebody please tell me this is the worst route. Quote

FinalChaos Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I finished Steins;Gate. Amazing. Simply Amazing. I was literally blown through space-time. The whole vn beginning to end was a masterpiece. 10/10 It's the second vn I have given a 10. The foreshadowing, world building, character developement, comedy, plot, everything was top-notch. The protag Okarin was pretty interesting, the way his attitude about 'Hououin Kyouma' changes through the vn truly showed his emotions and state of mind. All the different characters each have their problems, the way they interact with each other and how their behaviour is different in different worldlines, everything is intricately done. And finally the time-travel theme, many stories have used time-travel but very few of them actually explain the process. Even if it is explained there are many loop-holes and chinks, most of the time if there is a complex theory behind it the author himself breaks the rules he sets. I was critical of Steins;Gate due to it's time-travel theme at the start but it is one of those rare gems which handles it beautifully. (Since I am interested in physics I actually read all the physics theories given in the glossary which was quite interesting for me). Well to end this post, El Psy Kongroo Quote

Well to end this post, El Psy Kongroo S;G is one of the few widely acclaimed VN's I've as fallen in love with as anybody else. The game is one hell of a plot twisty roller coaster. I love it. A question about MLA So I'm right after the part where Takeru screws 00 for the first time, how far am I into the VN? Quote

For MLA - The part where he screws Sumika and she falls unconscious/temporary-breakdown right ? Afair you should be more than 3/4th ways through. The next part is pretty fast-paced so it should be more interesting now. Quote

FinalChaos Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Now you understand why i love that much Steins;Gate. Yep, now I love it too. Is the sequel/psuedo-sequel 'Steins;Gate: Hen'i Kuukan no Octet (S;G 8-bit)' good ? The mention of Knight-hart makes it interesting but on the other hand those graphics ....... Quote

There's no serious story on it, but well, if you want to taste it, no prob. Quote

Those graphics are keeping me away from giving it a try. I was mainly interested in it because I saw the name Knight-hart, if there isn't any serious story then it doesn't really matter. What about Robotics;Notes and Chaos;Child ? They haven't been translated so no hope of me reading it yet but what are the general reviews regarding them from those chosen ones who can read japanese ? Apparently the Robotics;Notes VN is good, not as excellent as steins;gate, but still good. And the story is set in the steins;gate World line. As for Chaos;Child, it just got on Xbox one, we'll have to wait for PC/PS3/PS4/Vita Vers(and Chaos;Child is a sequel to Chaos;Head). Quote

They haven't been translated so no hope of me reading it yet but what are the general reviews regarding them from those chosen ones who can read japanese ? I have a friend who's a massive fan of Robotics;Note (the VN). I found the anime kinda nice but not so great myself. Mostly for pacing issues and some deus ex machina stuff but there was a true feeling of passion in it, you can feel like in Steins;Gate that this was a story written by nerds like you. Maybe the VN doesn't have those issues. Those graphics are keeping me away from giving it a try. Well it's the whole point of the game to have those graphics Quote

I'll avoid watching Robotics;Notes as I don't want to ruin the vn (whenever I get to read it). And well I guess I'm a bit picky about the graphics, which is the same reason why I'm not able to go through the rance series till remakes come out. Quote

Otherwise, considering the popularity of the Science Adventure series they'd have a project already. Quote

Kurisu-Chan Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 so your final verdict about the Science adventure series? What did you liked the most? your favourite scene of the two games? worst scene? General impression? Quote
FinalChaos Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 so your final verdict about the Science adventure series? What did you liked the most? your favourite scene of the two games? worst scene? General impression? I liked both Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate. As for what I liked the most, it has to be intricacy and highly detailed plot of the two vns. The foreshadowing, execution of the scenes were what made the two games great. If we are talking about the scene which had the most impact, it has to be the scene where Taku finds his sister's hand in the box for Chaos;Head. And the bullet to the head for Steins;Gate. Quote

I felt so bad for Kurisu and Okabe in that moment. Quote
Tyrael Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Forest this game is so hard to understand... I also kinda not want to play Steins;Gate because Mayushii is best girl for me and I heard bad things happen to her in the other routes Quote
