Vokoca Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 playing Soukou Akki Muramasa, looks pretty awesome, though it has bad ends only......guess it is time to witness my first bad end...I'v always avoided bad ends so far, hence th name, so I don't know how bad they are,and I know the Japanese can put some pretty dark stuff in their brains....( learned this from anime....),hopefully it does not corrupt me. Oh believe me, if there is anything to make you embrace bad ends, then it is Muramasa. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Started YU-NO. I have a lingering feeling that this is the VN to fulfill my need of good sci-fi. Sprites and voices are pretty shit, but the CGs and the music are actually gorgeous in their own way. Out of all technical drawbacks I've ever seen in a VN, not being able to save everywhere far and away takes the damn cake for being the most annoying. I spent more time worrying about when I would be able to save than enjoying the story. Quote
Terancam Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Downloaded a bunch of nukige ( We love Master, Boobs War and some of Atelier Sakura Team NTR ... ) Started Koihime Musou, Princess Evangile ( Almost finised, just have to cleard the Ayaka's Route ) and Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai ( I like this one, for some reason i do not really understand... ) Quote
B0X0R Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I just started playing Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius. Wow! That game is fun! Unfortunately it's still a bit buggy but that's to be expected. Cythnar 1 Quote
Down Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I know that the translation is supposed to be pretty bad, but since I can't read the original, would someone mind explaining why it's so bad? I'm a little curious. According to the people who say that, it's extremely inaccurate. The prose itself is probably not very different from the usual Ixrec prose, I guess. Ixrec himself admits that it's bad, afaik. Quote
nohman Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 So, I'm back reading Hoshimemo after starting it and delaying it for like a year. I'm also decently far into Utawarerumono. The story really picks up, but I feel like I'm already losing interest in it. I'll try to keep with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5pDz-HrWcs Quote
FinalChaos Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Finally resumed reading CrossChannel. I'm currently in Miki's route. I know that the translation is supposed to be pretty bad, but since I can't read the original, would someone mind explaining why it's so bad? I'm a little curious. Yeah I had the exact same thoughts while playing it myself. From what all I know apparently the writing was reduced from god-tier to simply good-tier. Cross-channel is a pretty complex vn so I guess a lot of word-plays and references from Jap were lost. Quote
Down Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I wish someone would retranslate it. Apparently that doesn't happen too often, though, sadly. Guess we filthy gaijin have to be content with what we have. It actually was re-translated... By a guy who wrote a giganormous essay on C+C with a Christian interpretation that probably doesn't make very much sense? And the translation is still not good. Bleh. Yuuko Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 So, I'm back reading Hoshimemo after starting it and delaying it for like a year. Good, good. Please love Mare I'm close to finishing Hanasaki Work Spring. Going to start Totono after that. I'm scared Quote
Cythnar Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I just started playing Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius. Wow! That game is fun! Unfortunately it's still a bit buggy but that's to be expected. I personally LOVE the Sunrider series. Can't wait for Sunrider 2 to finish. I recommend playing Sunrider Academy next if you haven't, it's stat management dating sim with SoL elements based in an alternate universe, and in a younger timeline than original Sunrider. You'll notice a million Easter eggs though. Truly enjoyable. Quote

I spent more time worrying about when I would be able to save than enjoying the story. After the prologue, saving shouldn't be an issue since there's a "Save and Quit" button at all times. There's a second layer of "Saving" within the game (and that goes with the actual plot) called Jewel Saves. If used well, some backtracking can be prevented, so there's a bit of strategy involved when it comes to that aspect. Quote

TexasDice Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 So, I'm back reading Hoshimemo after starting it and delaying it for like a year. htts://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5pDz-HrWcs The only VN to ever treat a little sister realistically and everyone finds it annoying. Welcome world, that's how smaller siblings work. On-topic, I feel like the voices for Asuho and Chinami were accidentally switched. Chinami just sounds older than Asuho. Quote
Yuuko Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 there's nothing to be scared of. Totono is just a moege. You are responsible if I die Quote
Satsuki Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Anyone feels like trying out this thing on Steam? The Chinese voice-over scared me away, although the art is so good... Quote
Yuuko Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Don't be scared~ Totono is an amazing experience. And the art is sex for the eyes~~~ What if it's too awesome for me and I die DatYandereGirl 1 Quote

sub-zer0 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I Had to drop Muramasa....It was such a damn good action packed VN, 30 minutes into it, and a ton of action already, just so looking forward to it...but the vertical text...WHY???? I cannot stand it...Just literally can't...It hurts my eyes reading the text vertically, so I'm gonna drop it because i'm not planning on straining my eyes for 50+ hours, went on vndb and used the action tag, and Now I'm reading Baldr Sky dive, seems like a really damn good vn the first 10 minutes..and I don't seem to understand why Baldr Sky dive is not English translated...the interface.. the words in the intro...the crew and cast roles...are in english, but its off to a good start....but i'm considering learning japanese... Read some where else it took them 1 year of learning and they managed Steins gate as their first read( he later became a translator), I don't expect to have his Talent, but knowing Mandarin is a Hellluva advantage since Chinese and Kanji are similar. Quote
Decay Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Apparently there's an ini setting or something similar to switch the Muramasa text box to horizontal mode. Quote
