Snowtsuku Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Can't bring myself to finish Princess Evangile. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Done with Ayaka's route. I was able to finish it without stalling it. Then I read Ritsuko and the plot looks so obvious that I stopped a lot of times before I finished the route. I am currently at Chiho's route. Didn't really find it interesting. I'm currently at the Sports festival btw. Quote
kooolm Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Currently playing Rewrite, just finished Kotori route. Mappie segments are hillarious! Quote
Snowtsuku Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 To be fair, it is a moege, so there's a certain level of predictableness that's to be expected. What really makes me laugh, though, is it's rated 9/10 on Steam. I like it so far, but it's definitely not even close to a 9/10. I doubt any moege deserves a 9/10 rating. Well true. It's probably just me but I can't feel enough HHHNNNGGG to continue the VN. I'll still finish it today or tomorrow so I can move on and read another one. Quote
ExtraMana Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 That sounds drastically different from the VN. There is fan service in the form of the pilot suits but that's it, there is otherwise very little fan service in the VNs. Extra was pretty terrible, though, it's nothing but harem comedy, and really badly done harem comedy at that. Unlimited has a whole lot more character development and a bit of plot as well. You can play Alternative without it. You may even like it. But you'll still be missing something, imo. But whatever, it's up to you. Quote
Deep Blue Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 @extramana, extra almost doesnt have ero-scenes, just 1 for each heroine, unlimited is not back story, is part of the plot itself for alternative because alternative is the sequel to unlimited. playing ame no marginal so far it's good, I don't like the fact that some of the songs have really low quality -.- ( is like listening a 56kbps mp3 song) and they even reused some from narcissu... Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 So, I'm gearing up to play Rewrite after I complete Hoshimemo - which is appropriate since, like Hoshimemo, it's another VN I was planing to play last year. I was hoping to get some opinions on a recommended order for the 5 heroine routes, one that starts out strong, puts the weakest routes in the middle, and ends with the best route. Start (relatively) strong and end strong. Might be thinking a little too hard, but that's usually the way I try to spread things out to maximize my enjoyment. I had mulled this over a bit while reading the VN, and it does look like the writers intended to have this game read in a particular order. To get the most from this game, I recommend Kotori > Chihaya > Shizuru > Lucia > Akane. Granted, it's really only important that you start with Kotori and finish with Akane, but it still enhances the experience to read the middle 3 in that order. Quote
Down Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I'm thinking of picking up Hanachirasu while it's on sale. Has anyone here read it? I don't like buying VNs without a general idea of their quality. It's short but it's definitely not a waste of time. It's a straightforward story that knows where it's going (although there are some infodumps because the writer has a boner for kendô, but who doesn't like that). The setting is pretty detailed, well presented and credible, considering the length of the game. OST and CGs are pretty good too. And the translation is excellent. The writer is the same as Muramasa, if you know how much people hype that game. Quote
Down Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Oh yes, I've heard quite a bit about Muramasa. I've heard that it's one of the best VNs ever made, aside from Subahibi. I also know that it's JAST's dream project, and that Peter Payne would probably sell his kidney in order to get his hands on it. Oh, the problem doesn't lie in the license. They got it. They got pretty much any Nitro+ game. The common route is even already translated. Problem is, Peter Payne apparently decided Nitro+ games would be done in a certain order, so it won't be worked on more until Sumaga and Django are out at least. Thankfully JAST has been picking up their shit lately (and Nitro+ complained to them about being so slow), so there's hope to see it in the west in a few years. Quote
Down Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Oh, for some reason I thought he hadn't gotten it yet. Herp derp. I forgot that Nitro+ made it. That's...rather strange, considering that most of their products have no relation to each other at all. Is there any reason behind that besides wanting to hype people up for it? That sounds a bit silly to me. Rumor's on the street that some day Payne printed out a list of games from Nitro+ they'd release in a certain order in whatever magazine, and he is now treating it as a gospel or something, sticking to that precise order. It doesn't help that Sumaga has been stalled for retarded reasons for a retardedly long time (aka it took one year for anyone to notice the translation was done). Quote
Decay Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 >Harem A harem can only be good ironically at best. I don't have a 2D complex so I'll give it a miss. I'll still skip unlimited I don't have 30+ hours to spare for back story. I said extra was the harem, not unlimited. You really aren't understanding anything about this but whatever. Quote
starlessn1ght Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Aye, I heard so I wanted it out the way first, but then I thought 'it might be alright, she's kinda cute at least'. No. Every time I think it's over, there's another one. I'm looking forward to Kotori's (and more Hat :3) Quote

Joshua1207 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Been playing Kara no Shoujo the past few weeks, going through it slowly. The game just hasn't been able to capture my attention that much. I just passed the part where the pieces of meat were put into the eggs at the school Quote
Scorp Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 It will be just more disturbing, and more criminal activity per hour, if you mean that. But yeah, it really have lot of slow idle dialogues, but I personally like one of the routes, when protagonist finally found all pieces of puzzle, gathered people together and like Poirot reveal to them, who, how and why. This was nice. But Reiji sucks as a detective, actually, so do not expect anything really cool from him. That's actually one of the good parts of this VN (for me) - no one in the game have any astonishing traits, so it is quite like in real life, very natural and believeable. Just it is utsuge all the way, so it was all quite depressing to read in the end. I wished for better end... Also apparently Makoto is still neck deep in Django and he's the guy for Muramasa. I liked Django, nice setting, good story, so wish them to release it soon. I completely understand Nitroplus position - licensed lot of games and no releases, that's not good at all. I'm thinking of picking up Hanachirasu while it's on sale. Has anyone here read it? I don't like buying VNs without a general idea of their quality. I am trying to read itfor month already. It is boring as hell. Their almost absolutely irrelevent and not interesting at all, have in the middle of plot battle to read like "oh, he uses a blade. That blade reminds me that in japan blades..." and stuff like that continues for 15-20-30 minutes. It is MUCH lengthty than cooking in Fate. Plot itself is boring too, number of chars important is limited to dunno, 3? So may e this will be better in the final (i read 2 or 3 chapters) but by now i use it as a sleeping pill - 15 min before sleep and i wake up n the morning Quote
Scorp Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 If you are a fan of japanese blade weapons and differences between blade fighting schools - that's would be ok. Me - do not have even slightest interest in this. Info in Fate was more enjoyable, as was more story-related. Btw, who is admin? Want me to explain how to install an anti double post plugin? That's a shame this forum does not have it installed, as all other forums i use already have it, that's why it is kind of hard to always remember to edit. also i post from a phone, not possible to quote anything if you edit a post on mobile. Deep Blue Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 why did they pick django and not hello world in the first place >_> Quote
Scorp Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Why not? I highly approve, as I never read western-alike VN before. And gfx in Django are much better. While cyber-net-related theme is much more common thing, even steins gate have it Quote
Decay Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Hello World is much more renowned and the art style is cute and still holds up imo. But I don't know why JAST passed it over. It's very long so maybe they thought it wasn't worth the effort. Quote
XReaper Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 also full for django though it having some flaws & stuff, its been quite nice & refreshing in terms of its setting. so yeah its about time they get it done already, cause time is moving forward, not the other way round. Quote
Vokoca Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Well, continuing my adventures through Sayooshi. Done with three routes, with only two more left. While I see why they made the structure like this, I think it would actually benefit more if they streamlined it and reduced the number of routes altogether, because they're mostly the same with just a few differences, which ends up being really repetitive. Though well, I didn't finish the whole thing yet, so this opinion might change as well, depending on what they do in the end. If anything, this is definitely the best denpa I've read so far. ExtraMana Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I said extra was the harem, not unlimited. You really aren't understanding anything about this but whatever. That was the one I referenced you condescending twerp. Your opinions are disqualified for being a harem lover. Quote
Fred the Barber Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I'm on pretty much the same page as Decay and Kenshin for suggested Rewrite order. Strongly recommend Kotori first and Akane last. I'd probably suggest (only slightly different from Kenshin's): Kotori > Chihaya > Lucia > Shizuru > Akane I believe that's the order I actually played it in, though I'm by no means sure. That said, I'm definitely in the minority in that I really enjoyed Shizuru's route and got a little bit less out of Lucia's. At any rate, anything along those lines should work well, and frankly you'll probably be fine with anything, since the game's route unlock order is sufficient to keep you from experiencing it in a weird way. I'm almost done with Eden* (I think), and then I'll move on to My Girlfriend Is the President for the July VN club. Will post full thoughts on Eden* when I'm done, probably later tonight. Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Eh, the main reason I recommended Shizuru before Lucia is because her route is more closely tied with Chihaya's (remember that scene at the end?). I can't remember the specifics, but I do also recall a few scenes in Lucia's route that would have been better if you read Shizuru's route first. It's not important in the grand scheme of things, but still a nice bonus. Quote
Decay Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Lucia's route unlocks Shizuru's so you can't actually play it in that order. That was the one I referenced you condescending twerp. Your opinions are disqualified for being a harem lover. Well sorry if that's what you meant but your post wasn't very clear. And uhh, what? I hate the standard harem comedy. And hate Muv-Luv Extra for it. edit: vvvvv My bad. For some reason I thought Lucia unlocked Shizuru and Kotori unlocked Akane. Got things a little bit backwards. Quote
