What are your H-scenes preferences in visual novels?

I'm all for H-scenes until they're actually happening. Then it's just 'ugh, I can't wait for this irritating fuckfest to be over so I can actually continue with things.' Annoyingly though, I like the idea of 'couple-based' H-scenes (like, two people forming a relationship) because sometimes the sentiment behind it's really nice, so I don't turn H-scenes off in case they're actually relevant.

 

That said, any H-scene which goes mouth/vagina/bum (or anything in that order...) in one go is either gratuitous and annoying, or so hilariously bad that the very idea of popping a cock-rocket is impossible.

I prefer my H-scenes to be as unrealistic and fetishized as humanly possible. Disappointing real girls in the bedroom is depressing enough, so please keep stuff like realistic first-time-sex out of my porn scenes.

 

Rare cases of VNs that would've been improved by completely removing the porn, include primarily Key VNs. Kanon H-scenes are the worst and I'm pretty sure that I won't like them in Little Busters either. Also, sometimes way too much porn is simply way too much porn (Majikoi S).

I'm stunned at how few people (guys) chose "I only play games with H". I only read VNs because of the H.

So I can say I always prefer to play VN with h-scenes (since it started long time ago, with old games from PC-98 like Three Sisters Story, Nocturnal Illusion, Divi-Dead and stuff like that, which had quite a bit of h-scenes). Maybe it is just me, but really, playing for 50 hours, reading tons of things about affections/puns about sex/etc. and do not seeing any sex at all (perfect example is that Chaos;Head) is utterly boring.

I am pulled towards H content, but I find i can live without it as well, even if slightly disatisfied by the lack of.

 

How can I explain it? Before reading Fate/Stay Night - I would NEVER have considered reading a VN without Hscenes, I just automatically paired up the two as a requirement to be "worthwhile".

 

Then, when I was almost through Fate route, I was completely taken by surprise when a H-scene popped up - I had completely forgotten I was reading a eroge.

 

Since then, I've opened my eyes and realized I could probably find other titles that can be good, even without any h-scenes. (I read Clannad after that, and found that belief to be reinforced).

 

I still like to have it in my VNs, for both pure and dirty reasons - but if the story is good enough, I can live without it.

Edit: i have always wondered about the females point of view while playing VNs, since most of them have a male protagonist, as a guy i would find it very weird to play a VN with a female protagonist who is trying to date guys, in fact i would feel a bit creeped out, but apparently this is not the case for females, i find this very interesting.

also for example, let's say the VN has yuri in it...how would you as a female feel about that? i know for a fact that i wouldn't be impressed if yaoi was part of the VN. 

I think it is amazing how males and females react differently to such issues.

I would also love to hear other females opinions about that.

I guess it depends on your sexual preferences too. I know several gay guys who play visual novels and they play otome vns without batting an eye. Although most otome vns dont have as much sexual content than typical vns and cheese you up with cheesy vanilla lines like "I'll protect you" and "I'll do anything for you" like 20+ times during the game. 

 

I played several yuri vns like Sono Habira, Katahane, Anaheim Girl's Love Story and my opinion of it is quite strong, I prefer it over BL/yaoi. There aren't a lot of them in the market, so I try to read as many of them as I can as soon as they get translated which is surprisingly fast compared to other vn genres. Yuri vns like otome games are more romance oriented although they aren't as cheesy with the one-liners and both females get to take turns as leads unless there's a S/M relationship involved.

 

I also take note if toys/dildos are heavily used. Like my opinion on quickies, I get turned off when there's a lot of them involved. I don't mind if there are any but as long as it's in moderation and look realistic, it's fine. The conventional use of hands and tongue is much more erotic and it doesn't make me cringe like when they show girls in yuris take 2 or even 3 toys/dildos in 1 hole! That right there just really makes me wanna run away because no matter how flexible girls are down there, there's no way it should be able to fit that many things at once. =P

also, one thing that i absolutely hate about some hentai/games is the over sized breasts, i mean i understand they want to make the girls more sexually appealing but they epicly fail !! i mean in most cases the girl's body doesn't even match her over sized breasts.

i like small to medium sized breasts, i know that steriotypically guys are "supposed" to like huge breasts, this isn't really the case. not that i mind big breasts i just prefer the normal size. i guess I'm weird

Perkiness trumps size for the most part and a lot of women prefer theirs not too big either as giant busts will succumb to gravity and sagginess over time and it's not something they want to deal with especially when they are older.

I like when they have them, but only if it's implemented right. I don't want just random ass H scenes out of nowhere, nor do I want the whole thing to be a fuck fest (unless i'm reading a nukige).

I almost always skip the H scenes in a story-oriented title unless they're important or have a character/ position I'm a fan of. They just distract me, although sometimes I go into the gallery and use them when I'm done with the game.

That said, I'd be lying if I said I didn't play nukige fairly often. I just have to be in the mood for it.
