Crayten Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Yume no Sono is about two girls who run away and take refuge in a mysterious world of dreams. ( ) Darekoi - You find yourself in an otherworldly peaceful town. A town where time stands still. ( ) Highway Blossoms - A short yuri VN about a girl wandering the midwest after the loss of her granddad ( ) Japanese High School Life - An Original SP Game about being a foreign exchange student in Japan. ( ) Wagamama High Spec - You're forced to join the student council to protect your secret! ( VNDB) The Orchard of Stray Sheep - A negative person finds himself the teacher of a innocent girl on a secluded academy.... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiTH1_VdBmg, VNDB) Wagamama High Spec is definitely my favourite from these 6 announcements. Some of the writters also worked on some pretty good VNs and an anime adaptation is also already confirmed. Quote
Decay Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Some of these are Japanese doujin VNs no one has ever heard of (Yume no Sono, Darekoi, Orchard). Highway Blossoms is another OELVN from the creators of the still in-development Human Reignition Project. Interestingly, Japanese High School Life is being made by Sekai Project themselves. They've had making their own VN listed as a goal in their list of long-term goals for a while now but I wasn't sure when they were going to actually go through with it. Wagamama High Spec is probably the VN most fuwanovel members would be most interested in. It's an 18+ high school moege created by an actual eroge company, which is not the kind of announcement you expect to see from SP. It looks kind of average, as do their previous games, so I'm not sure what to really think of it. https://vndb.org/v17823 edit: One of the scenario writers on staff for Wagamama was responsible for ChuSinGura, so there's that. sanahtlig 1 Quote
Satsuki Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Wagamama High Spec!? Wow SP, you guys are crazy. And I luv it. That said, from anime, now English localization, Madosoft is going hardcore on this title. Quote
astro Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I've played some of Madosoft's games, so Wagamama High Spec gets me kind of hyped Plus http://myanimelist.net/anime/31439/Wagamama_High_Spec apparently it's getting an anime too Quote
Decay Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I'm sure that thought has nothing to do with you being in Sekai Project's employ. Quote
Crayten Posted September 27, 2015 Author Posted September 27, 2015 Another one of the scenario writers, Nisshi~, was a scenario writer for HoshiOri. Didn't recognize any of the other VNs the staff worked on, though, which isn't a surprise because I'm not exactly exposed to a lot of untranslated VNs. Mutsu Ryuusuke was involved in Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm. So at least 3 of the writter have some good past works. Quote

Maxel Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Wagamama High Spec Writers: 1) Hayama Coyote (ChuSinGura 46+1) 2) Mutsu Ryuusuke (Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm) 3) Nisshi~ (Hanasaki Work Spring!, Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai) 4) Mojasubii Look pretty good to me. And It's pretty hyped as people here already said. Anime + Quality writers + English localization, I guess they want to score with this one. What I don't like is probably the theme, and that every heroine have oversized bust... Quote
Decay Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 When I first saw the characters I thought it was a Clochette title, they're really aping that style hard. Complete with the parade of huge tits. sanahtlig 1 Quote

They have it listed alongside non-adult titles on https://visualnovels.moe/. I'd give it 90% odds that it'll have a non-adult (read: censored) release in English. The question is whether it'll also have an adult release. Quote
Decay Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 The final shot of the PV is a photoshopped twin blowjob scene, it's pretty obvious what they're going for with that game. It would be pretty hilarious for them to only release an all-ages version. Quote
kyrt Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I'm still waiting to see the quality of their translations of other big titles first...admittedly if these games get a denpasoft (or if Sekai Project gets fucking smart and just has an adult section on their website like Mangagamer) release then I'll be happy. Seriously we say JAST has bad marketing but Sekai Project for their adult titles is just as bad...at least having a section for adult content on their website would probably boost sales. Denpasoft few people know about and fewer seem to care about. It needs some serious work to get it actually running smoothly something of which I'm really hoping they can get figured out eventually. XReaper Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 quite happy that Mayoi Hitsuji no Kajuen gets an english release, but wont get hyped for Wagamama High Spec, when its not even out & i havent read it already beforehand. the sole factum its staff consists of good & capable people does mean nothing, unless they do deliver quality, as this might be an indication for the better, but can still end pretty shitty. as for the other ones, literally no idea. Chuee Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 You should write a book on Business 101. If anything, I think the brand's obscurity is actually helping to weed out/prevent younger audiences from stumbling upon it. Think of it as a super secret and selective club full of prestigious hipsters (who are all over 18 or pretend to be ). I'm pretty sure any basic marketing knowledge tells you that more exposure is always better. Also I'm not sure why you consider minors 'stumbling' across as such a big deal. Most mid-teens already watch online pornography, and if anyone is lying about being 18 on the internet they know exactly what they're getting into. Quote
kyrt Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 >Implying Mangagamer has an all-ages section MG's entire site is literally an adult 'section'. This is literally the most hilarious thing I've read all day I just checked Mangagamer and it seems the separate all-age section is gone. When the hell did they change it because obviously I've not been too aware of things there...probably comes from only buying their physical editions and never visiting the site outside of sales. Quote
Decay Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Like... 9 months ago? Quite a while ago they changed it so it was based on the age-gate. Depending on what age you give the site, you see an all-ages store or an adult store. Quote

Not to make matters worse but sekai project is not really doing anything to dissuade mid-teens from this with the sakura series and the easily accessible patches for sunrider and other games. Covering their ass is always a good thing though so whatever. They also have been seriously neglecting denpasoft though...it's not that difficult to write up a post introducing the new games coming like Atom Grrl. Quote

Darklord Rooke Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I’m pretty happy that publishers out there are pushing the all-age thing. Eroge fans have MangaGamer to pander to the traditional Eroge fanbase’s interest, to the point where visiting MG’s site feels like visiting a seedy adult store, and I’m sure it’s a feeling they actively cultivate. I’m pretty happy for Sekai to set its sights outside the traditional Eroge fanbase and to be focusing on the more all-age audience, Visual Novels are more than just Eroge after all. Sekai cop a lot of flak from within the traditional fanbase, but if they succeed in what they’re doing it won’t matter. Shedding core fanbases for the opportunity to expand has been done before *looks at Bethesda* akaritan 1 Quote
Nosebleed Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I've already accepted SP as an all ages store, that's fine, as long as they make the 18+ version of their games available on Denpasoft. It doesn't hurt anyone to have 2 separate sites and it's beneficial for the company for multiple reasons, although I personally think they manage Denpasoft poorly by always releasing things way later on it. Imo it should be simultaneous, that way you'd likely spare yourself a big chunk of the hate from the community that you're essentially ignoring when you focus solely on the all ages port and then months later you bring up the 18+ version. The eroge community is still a viable market and they deserve attention as potential costumers too. Crayten 1 Quote
Decay Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I remember suggesting quite some time ago when Doddler was complaining about no one taking MG's all-ages stuff seriously because of their reputation that they just spin that stuff off into a separate brand. There is nothing wrong with having two brands for your two distinct markets, and it helps immensely when dealing with the press who is usually very averse to adult content and anyone who deals in adult content. I still think that would be a positive step for them. But I also still think that Denpasoft doesn't do enough promotion. By that, I mean they do literally no promotion at all. They make a tweet for each release and... that's it? Surely they could try harder than that. I think Dovac said they were hiring more people to handle that kind of thing but that was a while ago and there hasn't been any changes. Quote

It would be pretty hilarious for them to only release an all-ages version. Actually the original PV is like that as well... That said, Madosoft's titles are a little heavy on H and fan-service, so I don't really think they will go all-ages on this. Or else it will be a huge disaster. Quote

Down Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 They market poorly their 18+ titles on denpasoft, which results in bad sales (apparently Grisaia unrated sold pretty poorly...), which results in reinforcing their belief that the 18+ market is not worth it... They may be right about that anyway, the core fanbase is hard to please and sometimes they even care about annoying things like translation quality, game quality or good PR. I guess if you guys say Wagamama thingy is a successful commercial moege it might be better than their usual random obscure doujin titles/EVNs, but it sure doesn't look interesting at all for anyone outside the moege crowd.
