Me too  Don't ask me how I discovered this game/VN (more than ten years ago) :P

I won't ask, but I will say the word freenet.

"it was almost 20 years ago that I played it."

Yeah... I'm slightly older than the average fuwa member...

divi dead. damn so nostalgic.

those times when i haven't even know about walkthrough, and trying to get into a certain girls route and failed miserably for god knows how many times.

My first title was oddly enough Private Nurse (not a nukige, despite what the title might lead you too believe). In retrospective it's probably not very good, but it did get me interested in the medium.

Seem to recall that's on Asenheim. As far as I can make out, it's one of the better ones on there too.

Try Nocturnal Illusion on Asenheim. I like it more than Divi-Dead. And better old one, not Renewal.

Played DiviDead. Good game.

Nocturnal Illusion was really interesting, atmosphere wise, however it really just ends up being all about sex.

Not about sex, about girls you like and want to save from their gloomy fate. That's different, I suppose.

At the time I didn't know what a visual novel was, but I played Ace Attorney, thinking it was some sort of Graphic adventure.  My first real VN was Majikoi.

Muv Luv, either end of last year or beginning of this year. IDK how I found out about it or what convinced...oh right, the Muv Luv Alternative:Total Eclipse anime. I liked Yui but since the Alternative TE wasn't translated I started with the first.

and it's been all downhill from there.

Bugbears first. Edit the title to "What were the first visual novels you ever saw", 'first' is an adjective, and adjectives come before the phrase they modify. The "you've ever seen" also sounds wrong even though I don't know what is grammatically wrong.

For me, I can trace my interest back to Baka Tsuki where on the side bar they had "visual novels" and Fate/Stay Night was there. There were also innumerable fanart images of it on sites I cursorily browsed.
