Avatar Size and Space Allowance

Hi! I'd like feedback on two changes:

1. I've updated the avatar sizes on all themes except Rooke's Crappy Default Theme because... well... it's crappy. They should now be showing at ~120x120. Thoughts? If your avatar has some artifacts, you may need to re-upload it.
2. I've upped avatar max size to 220kb. If you use image compression, this should be able to handle the vast majority of images. This work for everyone?

For whatever (poor) reason, no, not yet. It's not me, it's a software limitation. I'm fighting the good fight, however, and hopefully I'll get it changed soon.

I'm doing it for you, Flutterz, so don't give up on me.

Unfortunately IPB seems intent on making my desired avatar look like crap no matter what. http://i.imgur.com/ubruG00.gif

The built-in cropping system is straight up refusing to do anything, so I'll have to edit the image manually but I don't know how with gifs. Maybe someone here could help me? That would be really cool if so.

This is great, and thank you for this, but it looks like the editing process caused the file size to inflate beyond the limits.

This is great, and thank you for this, but it looks like the editing process caused the file size to inflate beyond the limits.

Well, I'll take this over nothing.

I seem to have a problem with quality loss though.
I tried re-uploading a version of my avatar that's exactly 120x120 and it gets so much noise and artifacts when I upload it on fuwa.
Any ideas?

Edit: Uploading a PNG seems to have less issues. JPG gets completely borked though.

It has to be doing something weird with the scaling. I've seen some simple avatars with large, crisp source images look like crap. This sounds stupid, but I wonder if it's downscaling to the old resolution of 90x90 then upscaling back to 120x120.

Good thing my avatar was/still is larger than the "120x120" so I don't have to do anything. I made it battling the old MB restriction, and luckily it looks good enough that I can be lazy and not do it again

if you are still using your old avatar it will look a bit blurry because is stretching from 90x90 to 120x120 so the best thing to do is re-upload it.

I had to do some fiddling and resizing, but I was able to get Suzu back from the blurry hell she was in for awhile.

 

Still, It's doing a lot better then it was at first - miss the option to use rectangular crops, but I'll live~
