Snowtsuku Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 It seems that by default some tags immediately adds a new line after it. Is there a way to remove it or something? Quote
Snowtsuku Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Which ones in particular? image, quote, media and spoiler IIRC. Also I think Aaeru also had the same problem in the past where she wants to remove the space, commenting that it's not really WYSISYG. What she did is to remove the new line so that the extra new line will serve as the new line she wishes. Quote
Steve Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 well ofc it adds new line, that's how it is in BB code, new box tag on new line. What would happen if it didn't add new line, you would have infinite line of quotes like 10 quotes in a row and people would have to scroll to the right to read all the text? And not being able to post images next to each other is there for a reason, imagine having 10 images next to each other how would that look like. Only tags that are known to not hinder the formating of the text continue on the same line such as bold, color, URL, etc... tags that add box such as quote, code, spoiler, image or media need to be separated because they scale according to the display size, images scale so I can see them 100% on my screan, quotes end when my screen ends etc. So I don't really get what you want Quote

Snowtsuku Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Derp derp Steve You dun get me [quote]Derp derp Steve[/quote] You dun get me If you look at the spacing there are two lines. And this one has only one. Quote
Kendjin Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 You dun get me You dun get me If you look at the spacing there are two lines. And this one has only one. Because the second one is in a code box? I think as long as you type directly under [/ quote] box, you only get one line, but I do now understand what you mean. the actual tag generates a < br> tag causing a line break. Quote

Yep, the code only has a single new line. Not that it's the biggest issue but it's a little uncomfortable when I go from forum to forum. Quote

Steve Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Derp derp pokeI du gat yu see, no extra line if you want it so badly, you can just continue writing after the tag and for the reasons mentioned above (you cannot have 2 100% line consuming tags on one line because that would be 200% of the screen line length), there needs to be a line breaker on the end of the tag. If you so want to see how your post looks like, you can use the preview post function. The editor is in code so you can never get what you see in editor. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 You get the problem and I know how to work around with it. However, what I'm asking if there is a way to change it. Quote
Steve Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Nope, its the BB code. If some other forum uses html or any other code, it might work there differently, but that brings lot of risks and problems with it. That's why BB code was created, specifically for bulletin boards. It specializes in one thing - working great on forums. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Derp. Lag post. Trying to preview something. Quote
