Mephisto Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Yo guys, Fanime just started today ( and will be lasting for memorial weekend), since I noticed that there were quite a few people here from California, I was just wondering if anyone else went/is going to go. There actually isn't much stuff for visual novels there no panels. Hanako Games is there in the artist gallery though (bought two VNs from them, not sure if any good will try them out later), and Mangagamer has a stall in the Dealer's hall (although it seems they only have porn and stuffs, didn't pay much attention. When I passed by the guy running the stall was trying to sell boob wars to someone) So, anyone in the area? Quote
zhurai Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I'm in the area technically, but I don't have a car so I'm not going this year / o \, but oh well (also totally forgot about it until like 2 days ago ish) I think jaxter0987 is going though from what I know Quote
zoom909 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Well I looked up Hanako Games, having never heard of them, and was surprised to find on their page: "For too many people, "games for girls" means nothing but bright pink and dolls and dress-up and shopping...why aren't there more girl games with unicorns instead of prom dresses?" Sounds pretty rummy to me. Well, I brightened up when I saw this: "Georgina Bensley once had a ColecoVision, and it gave her a lifelong fondness for games that are small and simple but well-designed and fun. Some of her more recent favorites include the classic Quest adventure games from Sierra, the never-officially-released Princess Maker, and the excellent Fallout RPG series." Hear, hear! Clearly their designer has good taste. Quote
Mephisto Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 http://vndb.org/v7499 http://vndb.org/v9876 These are the two VNs I bought. Not sure to start playing them now, or finish hoshizora, or start koihime ahhh. They have reasonably high ratings. Edit: oh yeah, forgot to mention Is Madoka like super popular or something? It is freaking everywhere at this convention. 1/2 of the stuff in the Artist's gallery is Madoka. Oh yeah. I was looking specifically for Steins;Gate stuff, but there wasn't much. There was a Kurisu figure and a Steins;Gate art book, but I wasn't sure if I should get them or not. If the art book was in english, definitely would've gotten it, and if the figurine was Okabe, I probably would've got it. (honestly, why isn't there a Kurisu pin or keychain or something, a figurine is way too big) Quote

Madoka is very popular, considering the 2 movies that came out + the 3rd this summer x) I got complete set of figures (*.*) Quote

Madoka is ultra-popular because everyone, even non-anime watchers, saw it, and it made quite the buzz. Same thing in France, you see it EVERYWHERE at convs and half of the cosplays are Madoka ones. Eurobeatz Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I'm in California, but I won't be attending Fanime this year. I'm not all that into anime anymore, and I'd rather spend my time with VNs. Plus, I have visitors this weekend, so I wouldn't be able to go anyways. Quote
