Night Dive Studios is a studio that allows many old games to be sold again after being unavailable for purchase except for old physical copies, including System Shock 1 and 2. They announced today that they have acquired full rights to the System Shock franchise and more importantly they're working on a remake of the 1994 classic System Shock, and there are talks for a System Shock 3 (however, the team acknowledges that a full-fledged sequel is out of their ability by themselves).

I don't know what to expect from those guys, but man I've wanted to play SS1 with updated graphics and gameplay for so long. Get fucking hype motherfuckers, THE HYPE TRAIN IS ON

why....why can't just leave the old good classics as they are, you wont and you can't make system shock 1 or 2 better than already is, why not innovate and create a new ip? oh yeah i forgot.... how else would you milk a franchise that has a fanbase already established and guarantee of copy sales <_<

Remaking doesnt take away the original. I'm cool with it. The first is hard to play due to its age, thought the enhanced version makes it easier. Looking forward to seeing what they do. (I'm picturing something like the Black Mesa release)

yes remaking it wont ruin the original but they do this because of the money not because they care about the game or anything and if you are going to spend money developing something at least do something original but sadly this is how the industry works.
