mitchhamilton Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 like the title says. i dont mind doing most of the project myself. in my opinion its better than relying on someone who might bail out. of course if i get stuck somewhere ill ask for help, like now. let me just clarify, i have absolutely no idea what i am doing when it comes to extracting scripts and changing texts and all that other fancy stuff. i need programs, softwares, advice, warm milk, anything you can offer i am all ears. Unless you have hacking experience, You need a hacker to extract the game's scripts, voice files, images, etc... Quote

Kawasumi Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 @binaryfail is the one that does the decrypting around here it seems. Apart, from that its adviced that if you can find an editor and a QC for your project. then you're pretty much set. Quote

So, no computer hacking experience but you got some computer whacking experience. Nice. (may they rest in p...ieces) But really, it might be helpful to find a game and identify its engine first. That will help figure out what kind of tools are needed to get the data. Edited January 16, 2016 by binaryfail mitchhamilton and Dergonu 2 Quote

binaryfail Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 The scripts are in Rio.arc -- are you able to upload it? mitchhamilton 1 Quote
mitchhamilton Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 yes just give me one second......... plus a thousand. Quote
mitchhamilton Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 here it is http://www.mediafire.com/download/d7t9qp7u7de5mw7/Rio.arc Quote
binaryfail Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Okay, so the data is for an engine that's a bit older than the present-day AdvHD engine. Nonetheless, I can point you to a tool that can extract the script text. Go here (http://anime.geocities.jp/notazsite1/soft/ and get #009. To use it, copy will_con (v3) to a new folder and put Rio.arc in that same folder. Run the program and you should see a bunch of txt files. Since this tool only extracts the text, another program will be needed for re-inserting. mitchhamilton 1 Quote
mitchhamilton Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 ok, so i did all that and im assuming all the text from the vn is now in that folder? so i just translate all that and find another program to put it in the original vn folder? as a single file? Quote
binaryfail Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Yeah, that's basically it. I currently don't know if a re-insertion tool is out there or not, so that will be something to think about if you're going to translate the scripts. mitchhamilton and Fiddle 2 Quote
mitchhamilton Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 this is more than enough. i honestly didnt expect to get this far, this fast. thank you so, so, so, so, so much for all your help. Quote

Geocities was literally one of the first "build your own website" places back in the 90's. You couldn't swing a dead meme without running into a Geocities site. But it's been long dead for years now. Sorry, didn't mean to alarm you. Just surprised any of those links were still out there. But looking it up it makes sense - Yahoo! shut down Geocities in the United States in 2009 along with Canada and Europe, but it's still available in Japan, which explains the distinct Japanese text on it. Valmore Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Most likely because it ended up being a revenue sinkhole after a series of bad decisions by Yahoo after they bought Geocities in 1999. Heck, it's amazing Yahoo is still around with Google having pretty much taken over the world. Quote
Valmore Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Probably not nearly as interesting as whatever VN you're translating. XD Quote
mitchhamilton Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 depends i guess. i dont think its more interesting than the vn but i still think its interesting none the less. Valmore 1 Quote
