Seeking patient person with JP knowledge('cause I'm not very smart)

Hello folksies and animalsies and every other beingsies.

I'm looking for someone to help me with understanding difficult (and not so difficult) Japanese as I am attempting to translate a VN as a project to help increase my understanding of JP. As my JP knowledge is VERY limited (read Genki 1-ish). Not sure what else to write, so I'll just stop here and hope someone answers... Yeah...

I don't think that translating as a means to improve Japanese is a very smart thing and think it is better to simply read more VNs as a means to improve Japanese and leave translating when you have more knowledge.

In hindsight, yeah. But I started this and I intend to finish it.

I would say that translating makes your Japanese worse when you are a beginner because then you start to think Japanese in English when you are supposed to think Japanese as Japanese.

I've never found that to be a problem when learning English (it's not my mother tongue). I always try to understand the actual JP before even attempting to translate it. I don't know if that helps, but I feel it does. As I believe I don't think in terms of JP -> Eng -> Comprehension.
