Deep Blue Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I don't think this vn supports mac maybe using wine? Quote
Rosie Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Umm..I did download this thing called PlayOnMac and the wine thing you mentioned Quote
Deep Blue Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I was reading a few thread about installing games on mac and is not that easy, I don't know since I don't own a mac myself but many users recommended to install bootcamp to use a double boot but I think you should try using virtual box (it supports mac) and installing xp on a virtual machine https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads It should be easy enough to configure and install, all the tutos I've seen are from 2009 so yeah I don't think they are very useful now.. Orcka Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 You can always install the Windows Operating System on a Mac computer: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201468 Quote
bigfatround0 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 If you don't JP then you're out of luck. Just letting you know before you waste time downloading and installing stuff. Quote

john 'mr. customer' smith Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 i'd be able to help you if it was linux, but there's some steam vns that work on mac Quote
Fred the Barber Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 It's been a while since I looked at Mac virtualization, but the last time I looked I think Parallels was the best option: http://www.parallels.com/. Dual-booting is definitely annoying, so I'd avoid that route. You could try Wine, which seems to have a Mac install, but I expect it won't work as reliably as running a Windows VM in Parallels: https://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX Quote
Down Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I can confirm that Parallels is the most convenient and efficient solution I've found. I've done dual-booting with bootcamp for a while, although it works perfectly fine and is pretty easy to set up having to reboot when you want to play is obviously a pain. Wine works for some stuff but requires effort and being kinda tech-savvy. I think Parallels is really still the best. Or another virtual machine software but I haven't tasted many. Quote

Rosie Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 Ok. Thanks to everyone who commented! ^-^ Quote
Silver95280 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I tried dual booting and Parallels. Eventually I just went "fuck it" and got a cheap windows tablet. Fred the Barber 1 Quote
Fred the Barber Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 A valid point - I kind feel like a troll for saying "get a Windows machine", but it really probably is the best option in most ways. It's probably not even that cost-ineffective, given the cost of a Windows license (and also Parallels, if you go that route)... assuming you're not pirating, I guess. Quote
Down Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Quote assuming you're not pirating, I guess. Yeah, w-who would do that The advantage of Parallels is that you can use windows shit you need without ever having to connect a Windows to the internet. And also avoiding ending up with mandatory W10 and its spyware package. Actually doesn't installing windows count as a installing malware? CeruleanGamer 1 Quote
