Fuwanovel Mascot

So what if, we had our own original mascot, similar to Mangagamer? As much as I like using VN characters for our social media accounts and various logos, it would be neat to have an original character to use for everything. Thoughts on this? If there is enough interest, I can try to get the ball rolling on making this happen with input from everyone. For now, lets not discuss what the character would look like, just a simple yes or no will suffice

Voted yes. However, knowing the members of this community I'd like to ask that people NOT make it pervy. We're trying to draw in members from ALL aspects of the VN community, not just horny eroge fans. And before anybody mentions MangaGamer, people should remember their whole store is set up to make you feel as though you're browsing the wares of a back-alley sex shop, in the sleaze district.

I gave them exactly this feedback in their last survey... it was ridiculously embarrassing for me to recommend Gahkthun to a group of rational adults (who I met through work, to boot), who I think legitimately might be interested in a story like that one but simply don't know about the VN genre at all. MangaGamer's storefront is just 100% porn-focused. They need a "?hentai=no" version of their website, even if it's just for individual game pages.

Anyway, I voted yes as well, with the same caveat.

So far. the votes seem to be in favor. I'll put together a suggestion post tomorrow for everyone to throw around suggestions, should the trend continue. And then I'll discuss it with the staff, and we'll go from there

I just took a look at MangaGamer's front page.  It looks the tamest I've ever seen it.  It's covered in pink, which is sort of weird I guess.  As for the mascot, they should've stuck with the wholesome loli.

To solve the issue of a single mascot not fitting everyone's taste, I recommend multiple mascots--one for each section.  That way you can choose a route and cuddle the one of your choice.  I recommend a smiling loli for the front site and social media to show that the site is family friendly and welcoming to strangers (perhaps too welcoming...), a cool kuudere meganeko for the official blog to show its bookish side, a fiery tsundere for FuwaReviews because of the "tough love", and a warrior girl getting raped by tentacles for the forums.

Sounds like a lot of commission money  I am but a humble retail worker. Hardly the 1% everyone speaks of. Don't worry, I am not going to shut out anyone when taking suggestions. Of course there will be a couple of ground rules that will be obvious, and I am aware not everyone will be happy with whatever is chosen, but I will do everything I can to ensure we get the best, and most inclusive we possibly can.

What about a "family" of mascots? Like one per each major theme, then on the front page all of them can be together or something.

That may be a future goal, but for now, I want to stick with one mascot for $$$ reasons. I'd like to get a high quality one, professional grade so this ain't gonna be cheap. 

And no, I won't be creating them. Unless the community wants poorly drawn stick figures

Clearly we need a generic male visual novel protagonist from CG scenes as our mascot. The one with the same haircut in every game that covers his face. Typical school uniform, too.
