Darren Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Recently i installed koichoco on my laptop (windows 10) and when i press start.exe nothing happened... Quote
Okarin Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I'm using Windows 10 with Japanese locale and the game runs okay. Quote
Darren Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 Hmm maybe the issue is not about the windows...Is there any other programs that is required? Quote
Okarin Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Set your program locale to Japanese. If in another setting, it could cause the .exe to not run. Although the classic scenario is just seeing the code, giving an error and being unable to run. Quote
Darren Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 My program locale is already japanese though Quote
Okarin Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Try running as administrator, reinstalling etc. It's hard to advise anything without any further info. Quote
Darren Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 Tried those methods and did not work. What information would you need so that you can advise me further? Quote
Okarin Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 It's quite uncommon to click the icon and it does nothing. I'd have to see carefully how your system differs from mine (that works). Under the assumption this is a recent installation, you should try to install regular components like DirectX, Visual C++ and generally other games alongside Koichoco. Koichoco is from 2010 (or VNDB says so), so it was designed for Windows 7. Also I strongly suggest to grab VirtualBox or some other virtualization software, throwing a virtual machine with an earlier Windows, and testing it. Another common trick is to take a look to Windows log (Windows has an application log for errors on programs) to see if it displays any useful information. Always keep your system updated, so if you've missed some updates, or even if running the first Windows 10 version, things can go awry. The latest version is called "1115" for November 2015. It's some work but if it fails, you'll feel an accomplishment if you make it run. Edit: Oh! another idea. Maybe your game was not functional. I remember downloading a version of Hoshimemo that couldn't even make it through the prologue. It was buggy as hell. Quote
