Gumi Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Pretty much all the complete translations I have of my small variety of VNs are from Fuwanovel, so I know at least Fuwanovel gets things done, and this is just about the only one I looked at hoping to see it completely translated. The game has a 100% complete intro chapter, and only 1 route finished of the closing chapter (mostly due to my gripes of incompetence of the translation group "working" on it) There was an anime version that really fell short of all expectations and ruined the basic premise of the emotional attachment to the characters in it. so as usual I cannot suggest you ever judge a VN based off its anime (although the anime standalone wasnt bad, its just mediocre) You DO NOT have to read White Album 1, this literally just takes place in the same world and the references to characters are minimal and unimportant to this story. Oh boy do I have gripes about this not being finished due to a certain group but Ill keep the initial post without those because it really is a wonderful story even if its only 1/3 complete Quote
Nosebleed Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I apologize for shattering your dreams, but Fuwanovel is not a translation site. There are individuals here who work on translation patches, but Fuwanovel and its staff do not, we're just a community like any other. Quote

Baka-Tsuki does machine TLs; I read part of their TL of the light novel version of Fate/Zero...lets just say that I suddenly lost interest in reading anything they produce I've heard that the WA2 TL from them is just as bad, if not worse. Ive heard this before, I wish someone decent would get their hands on it, even their bad translations arent being finished and the "community" they have is pretty much dead. All of this aside, even with a shit translation, the game WA2 was quite good for what was finished Quote
Kabu Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Personally I loved the White Album 2 anime. In fact it's probably one of the best visual novel -> anime adaptions I've ever seen, ranking up there with the Key works and Mashiroiro Symphony and Kimiaru among others. More to the point though, I don't really see what you're trying to do here. Are you just complaining about the translation or recommending the VN or both? Quote

Baka-Tsuki is just a site where you can post your translation, not a translation group. So the translation quality depend of who is the translator. But I can only vouch for Rokujouma's translation, being the only novel I compared the Japanese text and the English translation. There is a few things (nothing is perfect), but the translation is rather good (from what I compared). Anything translated by js06 or Teh-Ping shouldn't be bad either. Anyway, everything on Baka-Tsuki isn't MTL, so even if the translation of a novel is bad, it's not necessarily the case for the others. EDIT: Well, after looking at the page of Fate/Zero, it seems the translation was made from Chinese. Don't know if it's really MTL, but just being Japanese > Chinese > English impact the text. Quote
