Funyarinpa Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 So I'm just looking for a VN that oozes atmosphere. Examples: Remember11 999 Umineko Higurashi Kara no Shoujo Quote
WinterfuryZX Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 The House in Fata Morgana, I think there's nothing more atmosferic than this on the english market. Quote
john 'mr. customer' smith Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Planetarian, if you have the right mind for it, sucks you in like nothing else out there. Also, A lot of Liarsoft titles do it well, particularly the steampunk series . Play Saya no Uta if you haven't already, it fits more with your examples. Fred the Barber 1 Quote
Ariurotl Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 AIR. ... ... I'll show myself out. Deniz, SCG_1037, akaritan and 4 others 7 Quote

What's this "steampunk series"? Quote

I'm also a huge sucker for good atmosphere, but it works different for everyone Quote
Funyarinpa Posted August 19, 2016 Author Posted August 19, 2016 Planetarian was pretty good but didn't suck me in that much, but Saya no Uta was wonderful. Quote

Then you'd probably like swan song. Also, maybe check out fault milestone. It's a bit infodumpy, but with the recent retranslation, I highly recommend it. Quote
john 'mr. customer' smith Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Oh yeah, here's a thread I made a while back asking the same question Clephas also recommended Hapymaher back then, so with mangagamer picking it up, it's a relevant suggestion Quote
ChaosRaven Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I'd also throw in Minori's Eden and Root Double certainly also has it's moments when you ignore route B. I also liked the atmosphere in Aoishiro even if the title is not without it's flaws like the somewhat repetitive routes. Quote
solidbatman Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Va11Halla and The House in Fata Morgana are your two best bets. Liar-soft VNs maybe Quote
akaritan Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Overall, I would say that yes, Fata Morgana is the closest thing to what you're looking for, but I think Phenomeno deserves a mention as well. It's a horror VN, and I think that it's worth the short amount of time spent to read it. Quote
Deep Blue Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Swan song if you want good and dark atmosphere Quote
Fred the Barber Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Another vote for the WAB series / Steampunk series. I'd recommend Inganock as a starting point. Also, bats's VA-11 Hall-A suggestion is a good one, and a little more off the beaten path. Quote
Okarin Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Do you recommend Va11halla and in a few words, why should I buy it? Quote
