If you sell ten thousand, your VN is a hit. If you sell fifty thousand, it is a smash hit, lol. Quote

Yuzusoft has a really solid fanbase, so they probably put out between thirty and forty thousand on the first run, with a second run put out and shipped fast to the shops after they hit twenty-five thousand or so in sales. With hits, it isn't unusual for a company to produce and ship three runs in a matter of a week if they get enough sales to justify it. Quote
Narcosis Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Inochi no Spare on 9th place with a mere 5k copies, which means they might have barely covered the production costs, if they were lucky enough. We can't possibly expect good games from the creators at the moment, when they don't even sell. Quote

I know that Inospare is not a chuuni but maybe it is true in this case too (because of the good story) Quote
Narcosis Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Inospare is a depressing game, talking about serious issues; nothing japanese gamers are actually really fond of. When they get back from school or work (more like school, lol), they want to boot up their pc's and play something fun or enjoyable, or watch some porn. They don't want to think about their lives or the world around them. It's a form of egoistic, escapist fullfillment and nothing really that different from what we do, although it's especially prevalent in their modern society, with all the pressure put on them. TL&DR It's obvious such games won't ever sell well, but the sole fact people don't want to get involved with them (i.e. undergo through a catharsis) is somewhat saddening and doesn't bode well for the developers, who actually want to create more meaningful stories, instead of >just< happy stories. Infernoplex Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I like this kind of threads, it's insightful, I always learn something new from these lists and discussions xD I checked all of these titles on VNDB and some seem to be just pure nukige (5th and 10th on this list gave me those nukige vibes) ... Other titles are interesting and the mentioned Inochi no Spare would probably be the first title that I would read (if only I knew Japanese xD) ... I am more into dark or depressing stories. Utsuge is my cup of tea definitively. Quote

iamnoob Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Frogot to ask but about Gin'iro, Haruka. Is it hyped or something? When I was in Japan Akihabara was spamming adds for that. Only knew what it was after I saw like 99999 Billboard sized ads. Quote
