Someone asked about Sumaga at the Q&A tonight and JAST only said "We're working on it" I wonder if perhaps the translator they had for it originally did a botched job and the game had to be retranslated from scratch by a more competent translator...or if there is some issue on Nitro+'s side. Either way hopefully it will release next decade year (or will be a surprise release sometime this year...haha unlikely). Also updated the first page with all the currently known announced visual novels. Frontwing is tomorrow...it will likely be interesting and it seems likely that they'll have more to announce than Jast. Quote

After G-Collections imploded when their parent company collapsed, and Peter bought up all the rights, Jast USA licensed a bunch more titles from those licensors. But all the Angel Smile games were released by G-Collections back when they were still independent. In fact, Figures of Happiness was actually their very last release. They kinda sorta just went dark after it launched. I am disappointed in the "next 6 months" announcements from Jast. All the games that have been waiting around for years aren't in it. Trample on Schatten, and the remaining two NitroPlus titles ... nothing. The NitroPlus titles were announced in 2011, and Trample on Schatten in 2012. Can anyone who was at their panel say if they addressed these games at all? Quote

The initial Sumaga translation was indeed widely criticized, and I heard that Makoto had a hell of a time whipping it into shape. Granted, by any reasonable metric it should still have been released by now. Edited July 3, 2017 by Decay Nier 1 Quote
Dergonu Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Majikoi, now that's interesting. Will be nice to see an official release of that. Question is: When will they release it? It's a pretty long game, and... JAST. So... 2044? 2045? Anyone want to place some bets with me? BookwormOtaku, Suzu Fanatic, Caio000 and 2 others 5 Quote

A decade ago. I just looked all this up cause I got annoyed/curious at how long it was taking. This isn't quite right. The partnership was announced in 2009. But at that time, they only announced 2 titles: Demonbane (which released in 2011), and Jingai Makyou (which was one of two stealth cancelled games). Then in 2011, 5 more Nitroplus games were announced: Saya no Uta (released in 2013), Hanachirasu (released in 2015), Kikokugai (also stealth-cancelled), Sumaga, and Django. And if you look at the progress log there's some juicy tidbits: http://follow.jastusa.com/post/128544859416/progresslog Even though they haven't updated it since last September, you can still see work indeed proceeds on Sumaga. There's no update on Django (that "december" date is "december 2015", and there's no subsequent notes) so who the hell knows what's up with that. But Sumaga definitely is being worked on. Notably, both Sumaga and Django are listed officially on a progress tracker, meaning that there's very little chance one or the other has been stealth cancelled (like the two that got memory holed after being announced). Clephas Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Magical Marriage Lunatics Decent fantasy charage, but no better than decent. Typical of Moonstone. The Most Forbidden Love in the World While this game counts as a classic, I can guarantee it is going to cause trouble, considering that it openly states in-game that Mitoko is underage. Nanairo Reincarnation A kamige and a great choice in general... though I'm curious how they plan to deal with the plays on kanji and the uniquely Japanese concepts. Senren * Banka One of the better games from YuzuSoft... Dracu-riot... do I need to say anything more at this point? I posted about it when it first came out, but I don't have the energy to dig that post out of the graveyard right now, lol. Onodera Punpun, Freestyle80, Swim Swim and 6 others 9 Quote
Codesterz Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Well I guess I can't call them Suckai Project anymore. Way to go Sekai Project 18+ FTW! Quote
WinterfuryZX Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Now that they announced 18+ G-senjou (at the anime central) we can safely state that they never failed to deliver 18+ releases so far (well, maybe the first will be Baldr Sky, who knows...). Canicheslayer and Dergonu 2 Quote
Thatcomicguy Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I admit I was not expecting Majikoi to get an official release especially from JAST if anything I thought it might of been from Mangagamer so that reveal came straight outta the left field. Quote

Swim Swim Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 THIS MADE MY DAY. Denpasoft is spot on, couldnt have wished for a better lineup: Maitetsu, Tenshin Ranman, Senren * Banka. Quote
MFrost Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Quite happy with what Denpasoft is going to do. Senren*Banka especially since it's just fantastic. but man, SP doing them all sucks, because it'd be like 3-5yrs before any of them come out... Quote
Infernoplex Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) Nice announcements, but I believe only MG will deliver on their promises on time ... JAST and Sekai and Denpa - not very likely, I am expecting delays, especially with JAST. But overall, I am not let down by the announcements, not even in the slightest ... Tatanka82 Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 My first VN was True Love (back in the 90's) and now its 2017. I don't care if Sekai, Jast, MG wins a con with announcements. What i want to say is that im just happy that we get good VN's from all of them (ok Jast is lately even slower than normal). So thanks to all of them for doing a great job (I know, not all agree with me in this case) Freestyle80, Infernoplex, Caio000 and 3 others 6 Quote

The Most Forbidden Love in the World While this game counts as a classic, I can guarantee it is going to cause trouble, considering that it openly states in-game that Mitoko is underage. I am a giant sucker for monster girls, so Magical Marriage Lunatics is right up my alley. Probably MangaGamer looked at how hot monster girls are right now and decided this game would be a good pick, especially since both of their Moonstone releases have done well. As for Damekoi, I read up on this game in the past, and I believe I saw stuff that indicated she's explicitly underage when the relationship starts but that, if you pay attention to how long passes in-game, nothing actually happens until she's 18? Even if this turns out not to be true, though, it's not the death knell that it might seem. Those legalese disclaimers that "all characters are over the age of 18"? Yeah, they won't offer much protection in the event that some prosecutor decides that Imouto Paradise is obscene. They'll just say "come on, these characters are obviously in high school, so even if the main character is 18, the others are all younger than him, especially Koharu and Hiyori" (the loli twins). If Mangagamer can get away with releasing Sweet Sweat in Summer and Sweet Young Bride, and Jast USA can get away with releasing Littlewitch Romanesque, then MangaGamer can almost certainly get away with releasing DameKoi. All depictions of underage sex aren't illegal. That would outlaw Romeo and Juliet, among many many other things that are clearly protected. Only obscene depictions of sex lack First Amendment protection, and to be child porn, something first has to be obscene. The relevant standard in the US for obscenity is the Miller Test, and it provides: Quote The Miller test was developed in the 1973 case Miller v. California.[2] It has three parts: Whether "the average person, applying contemporary community standards", would find that the work, taken as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest, Whether the work depicts or describes, in a patently offensive way, sexual conduct or excretory functions[3] specifically defined by applicable state law, Whether the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.[4] The work is considered obscene only if all three conditions are satisfied. When asked about why Littlewitch was an exception to Jast's longstanding no-lolige policy, Peter's comment was that they decided no one could possibly conclude that Littlewitch would fail this test. I imagine the same could be said for Damekoi. Edited July 3, 2017 by Nandemonai formatting issue ChaosRaven 1 Quote
yorikbad Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Oh, no, my dear Majikoi! Why, why JAST? I will never have my sweet time with maids... Better start learning moonrunes, because now I definitely have all the time in the world. Also, FLOWERS -The volume of summer- (Winter 2017), JAST, come on! As for the long-awaited 18+ Maitetsu, I still have a doubt that we'll get the full version without the most controversial content being cut. It's so loli and with Steam coverage, so it could potentially raise some SJW hysteria. But if Sekai would have chosen to make the unofficial patch (like JAST with part of SD), I would forgive them all the sins. Their upcoming lineup is so huge right now, that I'm scared of how many Kickstarters it would take to release everything. Still, it's funny that the only thing I'm really interested in is Damekoi. I like "adult protagonist" tag. Anyway, great AX so far. Infernoplex 1 Quote
