Down Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Blu-rays are out. Go watch it now. After rewatching it... It's still really good. I don't have much to say against the first 90 minutes, I've already said what I thought about those. Then comes the end. I think I'm more okay with it now. That being said, I'm still a bit confused and trying to add 2 and 2 on certain points to see if it actually makes sense. I'm trying to figure out why did Homura do what she did, and did she do right or wrong. Upon that lies a good part of the meanings of the movie and the appreciation I have for it. Quote
Nosebleed Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 From what I heard the actual Blu-rays were supposed to be out on April 2nd. Where did you watch it? I'm seeing a ton of comments on nyaa saying these rips are poor in quality. Not sure what to feel and if it's worth downloading. Either way I think I want to wait for a bigger fansubber to sub it. Maybe. Quote

Well to be truthful : Homura did what she did because they need another movie to make more money XD. That said, considering that's the situation, I think they did a great job. Way better than if they'd just introduced some new enemy or something. Quote

Maybe. The blurays leaked early, as it happens sometimes. The Nax release I saw didn't have a great encoding, but you can take the Seed or Ohys-Raws encoding, they should be good. The Nax subs would need edit, maybe it's been done already or there's another source somewhere. Or you can wait, surely a high-quality subs release will come in the upcoming days. Quote
phersu Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I just finished watching it. My reaction was..... Quote
Okami Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I don't get what you want to say, you didn't understand it or what? Also did you watch a movie too? Movie was a best part of Madoka Magica story if you ask me. Quote

Movie was a best part of Madoka Magica story if you ask me. It was a pretty simple concept, so no, I did understand it just fine. It just left me feeling....'what the fuck did I just watch?' Quote
Yatsufusa Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 It was a pretty simple concept, so no, I did understand it just fine. It just left me feeling....'what the fuck did I just watch?' A deconstruction of the magical girl genre. Anyways, it seems like you don't understand it at all, since the quote: 'what the fuck did i just watch?' contradicts that. Quote
Down Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 A deconstruction of the magical girl genre. Define deconstruction. Quote
Life Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I think it deconstructs your idea of the genre but still stays within the bounds of the genre itself. Madoka kind of breaks down all the conventions of the magical girl genre and rebuilds it in a warped sense using the same pieces. Anyway, I loved Madoka Magica. *Thumbs up* Quote

Madoka kind of breaks down all the conventions of the magical girl genre and rebuilds it in a warped sense using the same pieces. Anyway, I loved Madoka Magica. *Thumbs up* Fair enough. I'm wary about statements regarding the "deconstruction" status of Madoka, for two very simple reasons. The first is that the genre being deconstructed is not really "magical-girl" itself but more the "fighting magical-girl" sub-genre, which makes it a rather logical evolution of Nanoha. But the main, second reason is that in the end all Madoka does is indeed take the appearance of a magical-girl anime and putting a twist on it. There's no meaningful statement made on the genre itself, just the twist. It's somewhat interesting to watch but lacks any kind of relevance to the magical-girl anime as a whole. Statements like "deconstruction of the magical-girl genre" sound huge but here it really isn't all that much. (Disclaimer: despite what it may look like, I love Madoka too, it's just that after actually going to watch other magical-girl anime I realized how my preconceptions were wrong about the genre and where Madoka places itself in it) Quote

What the fuck as in 'why did I watch that?' Quote
Down Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Not what the fuck in the sense of 'I don't get it.' What the fuck as in 'why did I watch that?' Because it's one of the best series of those last few years? Despite all the flaws and misconceptions around it there's like not even five anime I find better since 2011. Quote

It just wasn't something I would have watched if my friend didn't push me into doing so. Quote
Life Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I have to say though in my opinion, Madoka has the best action sequences I have seen in anime. Rebellion scene Quote
Ceris Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Well, I personally wouldn't say "the best" but they are DEFINITELY up there. During the 3rd movie at the theaters, the room actually erupted in applause at the scene in that 2nd spoiler. I was a part of that applause too I never posted in this thread before, so I'll just say now, Madoka Magica easily one of my, if not my favorite anime of all time. If someone ever asked me what my favorite was, I usually just said Madoka because, while generally I have a hard time picking a favorite, this was something I could stick by. Quote
Nosebleed Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Madoka's a pretty cool guy Rebellion was good until the last 10 minutes. But i guess it can still redeem itself in the 4th movie. Quote
