I was the main QC of the If My Heart Had Wings/Konosora Retranslation project. I wrote some small blog posts talking about some notable things/bugs when working on the project.

I was basically an all-around tester. I had to make sure there were no big bugs and was essentially another editor (looking for grammar/text issues).  

I made some blogs posts to show a little insight on how a project like this may work from a QC standpoint. This isn't meant to throw shade at the translators/programmers for making a mistake. In fact, making mistakes is expected in software development (and probably translations) and I kinda just want to show how I personally found and presented the issues to the programmer/translator before they fixed it.

My only question is - when are you going to QC another VN?

You look like you're doing in-depth work. which I always have respect for.

Two main dealios:

 

1) Theres much less fanTL projects these days and usually the QC role is filled out at the beginning

2) Im studying Japanese and have a full time job so I have even less free time to take on a project and actually put effort

 

Considered applying for an official localization company at one point but they pay much less than my current job. Would only do it if I lost my current job for whatever reason

Indeed, fanTL scene is much weaker than back in the day. Actually, it was sorta weak even during the time you guys were doing Konosora project. But now it's mostly gone (with a notable exception being Tsurezure Scans). There aren't many projects one could help out nowadays, sadly.

Also, yeah, real life is another obstacle. When you have a full time job or are studying, you don't have much time you can devote to a fanproject.

And then we come to point 3, which is what I was aiming at xD I was wondering if you were interested in doing it officially. But yeah, you have a point. Being a QC officially isn't that alluring. Considering everything, I am not surprised many official releases are poorly QCed. It's hard to blame these people knowing the circumstances. This is why the only main drive for doing VNs is passion. Other than that, I don't know why anyone would even bother.

I definitely dont think anyone from MoeNovel should reveal themselves publicly at this point
