Yeah, a lot of people seem to be pointing out the N2 requirement. The team told me to ask for N2 but I'm beginning to wonder if that's really necessary.

No the problem is different
look up fluent
many people with n2 and even n1 will not be fluent

asking for n2 is fair though arguably with a tlc you can settle for n3

Totally true but it really annoys me to see words misused this way, and fluent seems to be a somewhat frequent target; anyway you fixed it so it's all good now.

Understanding Japanese is all well and good, but you should probably aim for someone who knows english well enough to write prose as well as that.  You'd be surprised at how many people with a knowledge of Japanese who are barely literate in English, despite being raised speaking it.

That's actually what I'm here for. I'm the Editor/TLC and I've got experience enough with both that I make things make sense in English without straying too far from the original text.

We've already got another translator working on that. They just won't be able to work on the next project, so that has nothing to do with this, really.
