Is it possible to text hook from a PS2 emulator like PCSX2?

I have a friend who wants to read Amagami on PCSX2 with Textractor or some equivalent but it's not working.

I have done it few times in the past with Cheat engine and HAT but it really depends on the game. I never used it on Amagami but I van't remember if I couldn't get it to work or just didn't even bother trying because Amagami is just easy to read and has very little actual text in it.

Using CheatEngine + HAT combo I was able to hook many PSP VNs running on PPSSPP, as well as some PS3 ones running on RPCS3 (like Konosora Cruise Sign), but had no luck with PS1, PS2 and PC98 ones Looks like they tend to use nonstandard text encoding.

PS2's Euphoria engine made even making an emulator a pain in the rear, from what I remember people saying back in the day.  Sony used it as an excuse for not having ps2 reverse-compatibility on the ps3 (there was significant doubt about this from fans though) at the time.
