cryofrzd Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 They really used how the the human ear's sense of sound localization works. If the delay between right and left ear is about what it takes for sound to travel that way we percept the sound to come from left. That's how surround illusion works, if it's shorter it's from behind or in front. More info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_localization for the interested ones. neromercer 1 Quote

Like for example when I play Monster Hunter and I hear something, I know from where it comes, right? Well I guess I do understand, because I also thought it was something like that before commenting this xD!, though I didn't understand it that much back then. Quote
cryofrzd Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 "Localization accuracy is 1 degree for sources in front of the listener and 15 degrees for sources to the sides" - that's quite impressive I think Well I've wrote a small thesis on the human perception of sound. neromercer 1 Quote
REtransInternational Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 It is just a little bit of DSP effect, even the cheapest sound cards have "3D sound" because of it. Quote
