Clephas Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Ok, I'll take it as a given that yall are playing VNs in at least some of your free time... but just what causes you to make the decision to play a visual novel? I play them when: I'm not interested in actual gameplay/want a story, while I eat, to take a break from work. Quote
Katatsumuri Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 When I feel like it. It ususally is when there isn't something else that is preoccupying me. Quote
Mevvrynne Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I play them usually after a long playthrough of a separate video game or a long session of a multiplayer game, but mostly at night when I'm trying to relax crossing my fingers that hopefully I'll be able to sleep that night. Quote
Zakamutt Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Late at night, in bed, until I'm about to drop from exhaustion. Quote
Hoshizora Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 When I get home afterschool till about midnight (homework can wait :3) Quote
Clephas Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 lol, I would feel the same way... except I know the price of putting homework off all too well, from my early college days (and dropout) a decade past. Do your homework, get it over with, and enjoy your gaming with a free heart and soul... it is a lot more pleasant that way all around. My new school life can be defined by these simple words: 'Get it over with as fast as possible.' Quote
Famichip Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Usually after I'm back home from college and I've got nothing better to do to spend the afternoon/evening with. Or during in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. Quote
Sioxz Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 i read them when i want to sleep but i can't so i decide that a good story would be a nice choice before sleeping and making me tierd Quote
Aggressor Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 This topic made me realize that I've been reading VNs daily for about a year now. Sometimes for as long as 15 minutes per day, sometimes up to 10 hours per day, but I probably haven't missed a single day so far. As for schedule... pretty much every time I have free time on my hands, meaning evenings after work and any other time on weekends. I do have other hobbies, but reading VNs is the most time-consuming one at the moment. Quote
meru Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 In that tiny space of time after work and cleaning and cooking, but before bed >.< Quote
GoldenSorcerer Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I really like to read VN's at night, I never miss any day if I can help it. I also read them whenever I feel like it, I don't know what makes me feel like reading a VN though. Sometimes when I don't want to study, I guess. Quote
Nosebleed Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Most of my afternoon is dedicated to VNs because i have a lot of free time then and no one is home to bother me. Night time is dedicated to anime because i can fall asleep to it~ Quote
Flutterz Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 When I'm not on a long break I mostly read VNs during the bus ride to and from university, and if I can find the time I'll often spend a good chunk of the afternoon reading. During breaks when don't have to worry about studying I sometimes just spend the whole day reading. Quote
cryofrzd Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I try to read at least two hours each day when I get home from University on weekdays but more (half days) on weekends and on holidays. It's often evening/night when I read them. I don't play much other video games so my free time is quite dedicated for VNs. Quote
xion Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 usally at weekends, especially at night after spending time improving my english(i have an international exam next week) and studying physics(another exam). Quote
Silvachief Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Usually at night for a few hours before bed. Quote
Joshyan Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 The first thing I do after come back from work and have dinner. It should be around 4-6 hours per day before I sleep. Quote
Aggressor Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 The first thing I do after come back from work and have dinner. It should be around 4-6 hours per day before I sleep. And when do you translate then? Quote
Stanleys Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Usually at night, when I should be sleeping, but I get way into the story and forget that I have things to do the next day. Quote
nohman Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Sporadically and in large blocks. I tend not to read anything unless I get at least set aside a few hours for it. I like to be engaged and reading it in 15-minute blocks whenever I got the chance just wouldn't satisfy me. Quote
sugiken Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I play in the mid of night until myself got sleep-forced. Can't stop once i've started reading, sometimes i might play till the sunrise xD Quote
Chocolatemilkgod Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Depends on the VN and where I am in it. For stuff like LB and grisaia with long common routes, I'll read the common route slowly usually in the evening until the story picks up, at which point I usually play it whenever (schedule permitting). For lighter hearted games, I'll usually just read those in the evening to avoid burnout (also applies for things like kamidori). Quote
Okami Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I usually play at night because my neighbors are pretty loud during a day so the night is only time when I can read them in peace. Also I usually sleep over a day with cotton wool in my ears. Quote
hilbi Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Always at night, I switch to VN's whenever I don't have any inspiration for my music, seems to do wonders Quote
Guest Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Good VN's don't wait When the plot is good, the characters too... it becomes N°1 priority. I have to finish it i'm just too curious. Quote
