I want to resume the translation of Rui wa Tomo o Yobu, but I can't successfully decrypt the game files.

I'm encountering the same issue as the previous translator, as you can see in this post. I tried using GARbro, KiriKiriTools, and KrKrExtractor, but even if I can extract the files, they won't work after repacking because they are encrypted. It seems the previous translator received some help and was able to get it working (see the linked post), but in the original thread, the image he posted is no longer available.

Does anyone know how he did it? I would appreciate some help here, even if it's just to decrypt the files. I can continue the rest by myself.

Rui wa Tomo o Yobu is one of my favorite visual novels, and I really want more people to be able to read it, but it looks like this translation project will be closed before it even begins.

Have you tried contacting the old group either through pm's on this forum or by joining their discord? If you offer to help out, they might be willing to share the workflow they developed to translate this. They have also made quite a bit of progress already according to what is listed on vndb, so it would be ashame to not be able to benefit from their work on this project thus far.

I'll contact their Discord server. I've been trying to work on this novel for the past week without success. If I can't get the patch working, I'll either give up or try to translate something else.

*Edit: I talked to the translator, and he was a really cool guy. He sent me the game files.

This game does not really require anything special. Just extract and create the patch using Garbro like usual. There is no need for other repackaging programs. Oddly enough, the files themselves are also not encrypted or otherwise Garbro extracted them correctly with the XP3 settings set to NoCrypt. The game does check to see if the patch.xp3 is correctly obfuscated though.

Maybe you were using an older version of Garbro before? The fork by crskycode is the latest version. Select all of the all of the files in the folder, then select XP3 as the type of archive, and the name of this title in the list. That will create the patch.xp3 archive with the correct settings. Do you have it working now?

Thanks, It did work. I was using an old version of GARbro that's why I coudn't do it.
