A two man teams playing against each other. I wanted to ask you guys about your opinion before I think more about the planning and such stuff. But I need your opinion and I want to know how much player would take a part of this championship. Is this a good Idea or not? We can set the date to make all this and Teams should be fair parted so that everyone has a chance. Not just a team of two strong players. So take your time and think about it. It would be awesome if we could start a such Project So now started the step 1 of the Project: Opinions Anything else like teams or grouping in leagues will be done later I need to know how many people will be by this project Quote

As far as my opinion it sounds fun in theory but I don't think it'd work out well in this case. You'd have to account for everyone's skills and performance. For actual legit tournaments there should be qualification rounds where only the top players get through and then it's the actual tournament and the players who went through are usually on even footing which makes everything fair enough. In this case however the amount of players is a lot more reduced so making qualifications is pointless (unless there's a sudden burst of osu players here) and the differences in skill can vary way too much and so we wouldn't be on even footing and as such it wouldn't really be a fair match. At least I hope you understand where I'm coming from, i am fully aware i couldn't beat most of the regulars in the osu thread, going in a tournament where I know I'd lose doesn't sound exciting as far as I'm concerned. If it'd be just for the lulz then sure why the hell not but turning it into a competition wouldn't be fair in my opinion I have nothing against doing something in groups or whatever, that sounds fun and I'd love to participate, but a full on tournament wouldn't be that great imo. This will take some time to prepare this whole project but I want to see how many players want to take part of such fun contest. We can make a limited player fun contest or anything. The first thing is to know how many people would take part of this. I don't think we would have really a huge number of players and we can set some rules for the contest anyway. It's not like we're playing just easy maps or anything like that. I'll take the time for preparing it and I'll think for some rules and the whole stuff ^^ Quote

solidbatman Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Simple-ish solution. Have two separate tourneys. One tourney is Mediums (HR On) and Hards, the other Hards (HR On) and Insanes. So in tourney 1: round 1 are mediums with HR on. Round 2 to the end are hards. Repeat with tourney 2 except with the different levels. And no double dipping. You can only play in one tournament bracket. Quote

And yeah, how will you chose the maps ? No way i'm playing on modded hard maps. And how will you do the teams ? I think first you should make the teams. Then each team gets to chose 10-20 maps. Then we have a list. You send the list to both teams let's say 1 week before the match. Before each round you randomly pick a map from the list. And then we settle each round with a 2v2 or 1v1. Each team choses the player(s) who get to play the round and each player has a limited number of plays. (For example if we play 10 rounds 2v2 with teams of 5 players, every player has 4 maximum plays in the game). This way every teams has to chose maps carefully according to their team's strenghts and weaknesses in a large range of difficulty. But I'm begging you, please wait until I can participate ;_____;, T_T much sad, very cri. Quote

Even by spliting better players (40-50k or more) from beginners there's still a big gap between 20-30k players and 10k players., same for 30k-50k. I think you should try to find a fair system so everybody can play without having to play maps that aren't adapted to their level. As for the HR idea. A hard map with HR can be harder than an easy/medium insane map. But I lik HR so I don't mind Quote

We can agree on free mod maps, or on maps which have to be modded or on maps you have to play without mods. I don't imagine us all playing on the same kind of maps. I don't personnaly want to play on [hard] maps and some don't want to play on [insane] maps. Same for rankings tomoya, rea and I, have more or less the same rankings but our play styles are massively different and we didn't climb the ladder by playing the same maps nor the same way. For example I may find incredibly hard some maps they are able to play, but the opposite might be possible. Making sure everybody gets their share is going to be a really tough thing I think my format was decent and I wish tomoya good luck to make this work ^^ Quote

If other people are picking maps I can deal with it but if i'm forced to use mods i'm more likely to fail because I'm not good with mods on hard maps and I'm sure I'm not completely alone here.. am i? It'll also be hard for every team to pick maps that don't give them an advantage, the contest can easily get very biased this way. But then again if everyone does it the odds are likely to even out. If you're planning on making balanced teams based on average skill level, though, I fear that pairs of the best and the worst players wouldn't make it enjoyable for the lesser player. Or we could make two or 3 contests from rank: 10-30k, 31k-50k, and from 51k-100k or something like that as I said many times I want to see how many people will participate. If it's necessary I'll make another Post with a participation Formular like: Name: Current rank: favourite mods or something like that. I'll see tomorrow or in two days how many people will participate. This post is just to see what you think about it and maybe you have some interesting tips what could make this contest more interesting. Quote
