Apathetic_Discord Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 *Time-based greetings* I'm having issues with Ayakashibito. I've managed to do all of the registry editing with the .bat, however i am now at the end of one of the routes, and what i'm assuming is the Endgame Video is failing to load and then forcing the game to close. I get two error messages: http://puu.sh/87oNN.png http://puu.sh/87oPk.png This is what the folder looks like, and as can be seen, the file is in there; http://puu.sh/87pex.png I've looked around a few places but it doesn't seem like that common an issue, but one of the things suggested was the installation of K-Lite. I have done this, and it is still not working and just crashes. The file in question can be played through File Explorer, however it does not play any audio. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, will i still be able to unlock the Final Route if the game force-closes before the credits finish rolling as i know all other routes need completing. Any help would be appreciated...i'm desperate. Quote
Zakamutt Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Standard question: are you running japanese unicode locale? I really don't know if it will start at all without it, but check. Oh, and have you tried running it as adminitrator? No idea why it would help, but meh. Third out-there possibility is that you need to use some kind of compatibility mode. Try that second to last, I'd say. Otherwise, some other things to try: Another codec pack (might seem silly, but tends to be generally recommended): CCCP. For what it's worth, the file plays for me with audio using MPC-HC. Another is that the engine somehow assumes the vn needs to be in a certain folder structure; the usual install is two folders: /propeller/あやかしびと/ (not sure about if the hiragana are right width here :s). Of course, to make this work you'd have to edit other registry stuff and it would be a major pain. Probably don't do unless you feel like correcting other stuff witjh regedit. You can also try to re-download L_WAR from the torrent, in case the file is bad even though it does play in your media player of choice. Torrent clients usually let you download just one file if you're careful; back up the old one somehow and try. I found a post related to the same error for another vn: http://www.hshare.net/topic/14812-hsharenetcafeterialadythemotion/#entry76172 (NSFW). That guy was using applocale, and the japanese characters were thus giving him problems... Shouldn't be the same here since it runs and your path is fully roman characters, but you never know :f. Apathetic_Discord Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 Well, in response to your suggestions, it probably would have helped giving spec' huh? I am using the Japanese Locale Region, on a Win8 Laptop (Unsure if this could cause issues). I have previously tried having it running compatibility mode for Win7 and then running as Admin and that didn't work either. I've already tried CCCP earlier but i installed it again just on the off chance i missed something, but it was still doing it then. I've had a look in the Regedit and the application does follow the path of; Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\propeller\*Hiragana that i can't copy/paste* and the "instpath" does follow it correctly, referencing "C:\Ayakashibito"" as the Value Data. I got the original file from Fuwanovel a few days back, but after trying various things to fix this issues, tried re-downloading the whole thing again and just shifting over my Saves and that failed as well. As per the link you included as well, as mentioned above, the instpath is English with no Japanese characters in it. The actual directory wasn't though so i tried renaming that and that just threw out the settings that the .Bat had created, and when i re-ran it, it just created a new directory entry with the same characters i had renamed, also tried using the Japanese characters in the actual filepath of explorer in case...still no dice. :'( Thanks for the suggestions though. Apathetic_Discord Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 Ok, I've now got it to play the specified file correctly through file explorer at the very least. For some reason, MPC was using "System default" as the Audio Render which was breaking the sound. Manually changed this to MPC-HC Audio Render and it is now playing video and sound correctly. Still getting the same error messages when the game tries to look for the file though. I've now tried a complete delete of both downloaded file and registry entries and started from a fresh copy. Is there any way of disabling the in-game videos or forcing it to skip them? Starting to lose hope now. Quote
