Giki190 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I would've put best VNs of 2014 but with the fact that old (and good) VNs get late translation I just wanted to know what stellar novels have you played this year partly because i'm looking for recommendations B) Quote
Zakamutt Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Higurashi, the four last chapters though which are somewhat better than the first four (which you'll have to read first). I/O and Little Busters also count, though I can't quite give a blanket recommendation for either. Well, LB is so widely read that it's probably worth it just to be able to discuss it with others though. I/O was actually released this year, too~ Zephryion 1 Quote
Funyarinpa Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I only read Steins; Gate and I am currently in episode 3 of Umineko no Naku Koro Ni- that's all in this year so far, since I have many other dwellings than VN's (video games, books, school, electric guitar, mandatory daily procrastination, etc.) Umineko is like a weird rollercoaster of feelings: I feel somewhat "dislodged" when I read it: I do not know what to think and the game makes you feel many things back-to-back: Happiness, relief immediately followed by fear, disgust and anger. I quite like it. Quote
Nyanko Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 In this year.. the best VN I've read is I/O. 2nd place will probably go to Rose Guns Days (which I'm currently reading). Quote
suikashoujo Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 So far, it would probably be Rewrite. I'm a sucker for Key's games to begin with, but Rewrite was just above and beyond what I expected. Tenkuru and Sieg 2 Quote
Okami Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I'm not sure if this is asking for VNs we read this year, or VNs that were translated this year. Well the best VN I've read this year is Hoshimemo of course. I am not sure about this eaither. Well in both cases Ayakashibito is the best one this year for me. Quote
cryofrzd Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Clover Days. I loved the characters and the novel kept me entertained throughout the whole story. Quote
Clephas Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Mmm... so far, I'd say: http://vndb.org/v13631 http://vndb.org/v13108 http://vndb.org/v14270 http://vndb.org/v12987 http://vndb.org/v13224 http://vndb.org/v13342 http://vndb.org/v12609 ... are the best so far this year. Quote
Life Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 If it's only out of those I've read this year, sharin no kuni was pretty interesting. Quote
Nyanko Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Mmm... so far, I'd say: http://vndb.org/v13631 http://vndb.org/v13108 http://vndb.org/v14270 http://vndb.org/v12987 http://vndb.org/v13224 http://vndb.org/v13342 http://vndb.org/v12609 ... are the best so far this year. ...I already saw your list on vndb is quite voluminous and impressive..but just curious: just ~how much do you read in a year (or month)? Quote
fun2novel Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 The best this year for me were I/O and Root Double. The only ones I actually finished so far this year. Quote
Ravi Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Clover days..made me a shut in for two weeks(dont judge me,i'm on holiday T_T)..the only game when i actally like all of the heroines. cryofrzd 1 Quote
Zephryion Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Clover Days, died of moe in one particular route Quote
Flutterz Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Tsukihime was really good, the rest of the stuff I've read this year wasn't anywhere near as good and I still haven't finished Tomoyo After for whatever reason. Quote
Giki190 Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 Clover Days, died of moe in one particular route Well, You've successfully got me excited/interested in Clover Days and the moment I actually thought it was going to be a great game, I found out that it was untranslated Thank you, how was it? Quote
Giki190 Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 I'm talking about stuff played this year though if you happen to have played Fate/ Stay Night this year (like I am currently) it's completely fine to say that your best even though it's been out for some time now Quote
Zephryion Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Well, You've successfully got me excited/interested in Clover Days and the moment I actually thought it was going to be a great game, I found out that it was untranslated Thank you, how was it? Light-hearted, the drama only lasts about an 1 hour. It's great if you want something to just relax. Quote
Tenkuru Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 The best VN I've read this year was probably Symphonic Rain. I'm currently reading FSN though, so that might turn out to be great (I'm expecting it to.) Quote
Seth Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Clannad i would guess. Rewrite just wasn't that awesome in my opinion (and afterstory clearly surpasses terra) and Grisaia no Kajitsu suffered too much from Michiru's and especially Yumiko's route (one of the worst things i've ever read in a vn) Quote
Ivan A. Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Hoshizora no Memoria The True Route made me cry and no VN did it, so far. Quote
Clephas Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 In a month? Between four and six VNs, depending on the level of quality available. Quote
Vokoca Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 This year? Probably Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi, just for the great concept alone. Okay, the art and OST was great too. I'm still at the beginning of Muramasa though, so who knows what that will do to my ratings - so far it's amazing. Quote
Bolverk Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 This year hmmm. I suppose Eusita, Baldr sky 1+2, draculius and Ruitomo.. I loved all of them really. Quote
Mephisto Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Rance 9 lol j/k, Rance 9 was fun, but so far best this year is Eustia. Haven't been reading that many VNs this year though... Quote
