Kenshin_sama Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Man, it's episodes like these that remind me why I love Free so much. Great focus on characters and wonderful execution on the swim competitions. As with S1, it still took a bit of time to build up for the moment, but now that Free is at the climax part, it is my favorite anime this season once again. Quote
Freestyle80 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 So about the latest episodes: Rail Wars just keeps adding girls to the harem lel, wonder how they'r gonna finish this off Glasslip became extremely boring now, wats the aim of this In Tokyo Ghoul, that was a pretty good episode building up to a big fight i suppose. I hope Kaneki gets his white haired form soon ;d now seems like a good time to get it Quote
Jibril Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Hey does Kill la Kill OVA counts as Summer? Because it just aired and I gotta say, it's one nice conclusion to the anime. Quote
Nosebleed Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 Sure it does, and it was pretty epic. Always has to end with a bang. Quote
Yukiru Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Nonon insulting herself was priceless. Quote
Jibril Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Latest SAO ep is the most boring one so far, but from the looks of it, next episode will probably be epic. Same with Aldnoah.Zero. It's like this week is the week of character development (not that I'm complaining). Quote
Nosebleed Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 So I just finished Mujaki no Rakuen's OVA, here's a little review if you want For those who were expecting the ecchi levels to match the manga's they don't. The anime's ecchi is severely downgraded, all you'll get from this OVA are scenes from 3 different chapters: First is the one in the gym storage shed scene with Konomi and Shouta from chapter 2 Second is the one where the guys fight the girls with water and Shouta gets trapped and dry humped from chapter 10 And the third is the one where Shouta and Konomi go find some bugs and then play doctor from chapter 14 No breasts are shown at all, there are some cameltoes here and there and the rest is just lowgrade panty shots. The only "higher quality" fanservice for me was in the storage shed which is pretty much a hentai scene without the nudity. Most of the manga's characters barely show up or have any relevance which was honestly one of the things I hated the most about this since Mujaki no Rakuen has a lot of interesting female main characters. You'll mostly see Konomi who's obviously the main girl and the rest of the girls just kind of fade in the background, only Rio had somewhat of a role in the 2nd part. They didn't even show Manatsu The animation quality is bad, that's all I can really describe it as, it's to be expected from an OVA that's for a not so popular manga. So overall, not worth it, just read the manga and you'll be 100 times more satisfied. Quote
Ceris Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Finished Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei.While my memory is horrible and can barely what I watch, I do remember liking S1 for the more serious half of it. That being said, this season definitely had its ups and downs for me. The kissing thing was forced and stupid (IMO), and the school setting that was a lot more prevalent in this season turned me off, there were a few highly redeeming factors for me. One being Kuro is easily my favorite character of this series, and made a majority of the season more enjoyable by just being around. When the anime wasn't focusing on the school stuff and more serious stuff, I loved it like I loved parts of S1.The next major thing that impressed me what the (albeit weak) connection to the Holy Grail war Illya's and Irisviel origins being added is a huge plus, thought it was a real nice touch. The serious stuff in general, and the action scenes around the end that I enjoyed help outweigh all the negatives (in my eyes) and ended up enjoying the anime as a whole despite not caring at all about episodes 3-5 or 7. Jibril Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 IMO the season 2>>>> season 1 simply because the fighting choreography + animation just completely blew my mind. Honestly thought that these kind of spinoffs are usually trash like Soul Eater NOT but Prisma Illya just proves me wrong again and again.... especially the last 2 eps.... just... wow.... Hell I don't even get bothered by the school slice of life anymore, I just automatically forget it after a fight scene came up. The kiss part was stupid but that and the one from Aldnoah.Zero is a better kiss scenes than any romance anime this season Quote

Haven't watched the last episode yet. Quote

I'm a huge lover of slice of life, but I love the action and darker stuff in Illya more. ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-7Vod6f66s But I have to agree that episode 8 and 9 made watching Zwei kinda worth it. Kenshin_sama Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 That fight is still one of my favorite fight scenes in anime (disclaimer: I don't watch much action)As someone who does watch a lot of action, I can say that I have seen better, but this one's still up there. It completely shattered my expectations for this anime. Quote
Down Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I don't think anyone expected this kind of stuff when the first season of Illya started. I expected some silly fan-fiction spin-off combining elements of Nanoha and F/SN with lots of fan-service (which is what most of the show is), but I certainly didn't expect them to pull fights that are on par with what can be seen in Fate/Zero or Nanoha. Yukiru Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Aldnoah.Zero, just wow. Great episode. Quote
Jibril Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 ^ Can't wait to see the conclusion next week, hope urobutcher doesn't pull off "Remember: no happy end" route.... Quote

Jibril Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I wouldn't expect anything else though. Really great episode indeed, I still think a couple of the good guys will die, particularly the sargent and probably the princess. I hope the princess is the one that does some tragic kills since the end of the OP is.... Aaaand SAO just drop the bomb, wew what's with all the plot twists this week.... Quote
Nosebleed Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Kirito figures something out he could have figured ages ago, but i guess staring at Sinon's ass really helped (i'm not kidding, he really does stare) Quote

Stray Cat Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 So I'm finally catching up on the last 3-4 weeks that I've missed of everything. So far: Akame ga Kill-Great, great, and still great. Glad I get more of this in the fall. Rail Wars- I don't care what the reviews say, this anime is beautiful and I love everything about it. I'm also officially for the SakuraixTakayama pairing now. Only one more episode, so sad. Quote
FinalChaos Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Kirito figures something out he could have figured ages ago, but i guess staring at Sinon's ass really helped (i'm not kidding, he really does stare) Soooo true.
