Usagitenpura Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Hello everyone. New to the community. Mostly here because I successfully managed to make some visual novels run on Crossover under OSX and there doesn't appear to be anywhere on the net that gives proper guides to install them. I just finished installing Rewrite from Key. Aware this community is mostly composed of Windows users (if not entirely) but should it be pertinent I'm willing to post guides as on how to install given Visual Novels under OSX. I guess I may also say I took part of the translation project of Umineko No Naku Koro Ni as part of "the witch hunt" translation group (as a graphic editor). -Usagitenpura Quote
Flutterz Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Welcome to the forums! Hope you enjoy your stay! I don't use OSX but I'm sure there are people who will greatly appreciate a guide on getting VNs to work on it! What's your favourite VN? Have a moe: Quote
Monmon Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Osu!Osu! welcome n have fun enjoy a pun This girl said she recognized me from the vegetarian club, but I'd never met herbivore. for u Quote
Usagitenpura Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Thanks for the various welcomes (including in japanese, thanks HMN). Awesome Monmon ^^ lol Really seems a fun community. I'm not too sure what my favourite VN is but I generally am fascinated by Ryuukishi's stuff (Umineko/Rose Guns Days/etc). Still haven't played that many tho, and discovering new ones. Mostly saw "classics" such as Kanon and Fate, any suggestions about more unknown ones~? Quote
cryofrzd Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Hi and welcome! For Macs, many VNs won't work, or won't work perfectly under wine. You can get Japanese locale by setting LANG and download a Japanese font to get Japanese text to work. However the simplest solution is to run a Windows machine in a virtual machine. For reallive engine VNs (KEY before Rewrite and some more) there's rlvm. Enjoy your stay. Quote
maiavabomination Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 im a newbie here as well, but i just want to say welcome....the people here have been friendly and in quite a respectable manner..enjoy Quote
Nagisa_Fawkes Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Welcome to Fuwa! Have a pineapple with a mustache, because why not? Read Umineko no Naku Koro ni, top #1 on my ranking, and also Clannad. Hope you have fun and I'll see you around. Quote
Usagitenpura Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Thanks again everyone ^^ Not trying to argue about bootcamp, it IS better but I kinda feel it's a victory on it's own to run window things without rebooting. Currently playing Rewrite and only unable to run videos but the rest is all fine. @cryofrzd : Virtual machine may be another solution I should try, thanks for the engine link too, will be useful. @nagisa : That pineapple lol. Loving it. Glad you enjoyed Umineko it really was unique to me. Sooo anyone has suggestion for other VNs I should try ? Friend's been telling me about Kamidori. Quote
Monmon Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 My personal recommendation are Sharin no Kuni and Grisaia no kajitsu. Kamidori is really fun and good(I like Yuela's route) but i found the gameplay bores me in the 2nd run, but thats because i`m easily bored. So please do try it. Quote
HMN Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 i second recommend Grisaia and i also recommend majikoi it's a great VN i'm sure you'll like it! Quote
Kaguya Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Heya- welcome to fuwanovel! Hope you have fun here. So you helped with Umineko, huh? Pretty nice~ If you want any suggestions, check out my 50 VNs list <3 Quote

Lord Umber Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 My personal recommendation are Sharin no Kuni and Grisaia no kajitsu. Kamidori is really fun and good(I like Yuela's route) but i found the gameplay bores me in the 2nd run, but thats because i`m easily bored. So please do try it. i second recommend Grisaia and i also recommend majikoi it's a great VN i'm sure you'll like it! while I haven't played sharin or majikoi (yet, don't harp on me okay guys) I can ENTIRELY say yay to you playing Grisaia. it's EASILY one of the best VNs I've read (probably will be forever) also, just a suggested route order Makina -> Sachi -> Amane -> Michiru -> Yumiko also, please note, everyone argues about which routes are best (ex: some lesser people believe Michiru is best girl, and don't acknowledge the superiority of Sacchan) including me, so no doubt you will too, and Your Mileage May Vary also, I recommend G-senjou no Maou, I've been having quite a bit of fun with it (it's like M. Night Shamalan teamed up with a really good writer for a VN and they made me say over and over again, 'What a twist!') Quote
SanadaShadow Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Oh, so we have another translator at FuwaForums now? Cool. Welcome to FuwaForums (as if you haven't been welcomed already), and definitely don't quit Rewrite until the "Day of Darkness"! I know so many people who never played long enough for the game to give the action. I would readily give away my memory to play it just once more. Quote
MDruidd Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Welcome to FuwaForums ! Enjoy your Stay ! Please Read G-Senjou no Maou and Grisaia no kajitsu Quote
