Zodai Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Are you running your computer with Japan system locale? (link to instructions): YesGame Name: Muv-LuvDescription of Problem: Install difficulties, .ccd file not running. Your Operating System: Windows 864 or 32 bit (link to how to find): 64What did you already try? (Uninstall/Reinstall, Redownload, Run as admin, etc): Not much, as I am not sure of a direction.Did you download your game from Fuwanovel?: Yes Recently, I grabbed Muv-Luv from the site. I noticed that some people have had issues with installing, so I read through the PDF file and whatnot. However, I do not have the tools to open up the MUVLUV_EXTRA.ccd file. I am also unfamiliar with aspects on making the install believe a disc is inserted, and although there are likely tutorials for it there, some info here as well wouldn't hurt. It seems that the folder also comes with DAEMON, which seems to be a program used to assist with the install. However, I am unfamiliar with the software, and cannot find much on getting it sorted out. As I'm concerned I might mess up at some point, which could result in further problems, I'm hoping for some direction so as to get this right, as I've heard Muv-Luv as a whole is somewhat infamous on the site, and I'd like to avoid any larger problems that may occur. Life Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Daemon tools is a software that allows you to run disk files. Install daemon tools and it allows you to mount disc files (iso etc.) and run them as though you have the actual disc. If I am right all you have to do is drag the ccd file into daemon tools or click it and it should mount by itself. If it is mounting it should show on your screen somewhere. Good luck and I hope this helps. Quote
Zodai Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 I'm aware of what DAEMON is, however I'm having mild difficulty figuring out how to actually install that software. The seem to be 'instructions' on a renamed file inside the download, but I'm both unsure of if the renamed file is actually part of the install, or if using it will mess up the install in some way and cause more problems later down the road. Quote
Life Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 What is it renamed as? If you're talking about the 1)do something, 2)do something files, you just click those and it'll either start the installation or tell you what to do. Quote

If you're talking about the 1)do something, 2)do something files, you just click those and it'll either start the installation or tell you what to do. Attempts have failed. Running the software as per the instructions results in DAEMON Tools Pro driver error: 1500 Update was declined as per the instructions in the re-named file. Running the re-named file has no effect. It also states something about compatibility issues, but I am unaware as to how to solve it. Quote
Life Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Right-click on My Computer icon -> select Manage menu item -> navigate to Device Manager in Computer Management window. Then unfold System Devices in the right side of the window and find "Unknown" device. Right-click on this device and click "Update Driver..." menu item. In "Update Driver" wizard select "yes, this time only" and update the driver. "DAEMON Tools Virtual Bus Driver" device will appear. Try this out maybe... It would be preferable if you could link a picture of the problem. Quote
Zodai Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 Still having some trouble figuring this out. Was unable to decipher the idea above >< I'll see if I can get some screenshots up, I've just been a little sick lately. Sorry for the delay. Quote
Life Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 No worries. I'll see what I can do with the screenshots when you're ready. Quote
Zodai Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Right, then. After trying to get some screenshots, it seems like Puush is having some difficulties on my end. I am unable to check whether other people are having difficulty with that. Anyway, it seems screenshots are out for the time being. Sorry for the delay >< Are there any other ideas on your end? Quote
Zodai Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Puush seems to be working now. http://puu.sh/aesC3/632f400841.png First off, we have the main folder, with the instructions labeled into the filenames. Running the first instruction file does nothing. http://puu.sh/aeyu8/6cd916cda0.png Then we head into the above folder, bringing us here. Running the DTLite.exe program brings us to this. http://puu.sh/aeyEJ/7f856d6bfd.png Running Get Help Online seems to be difficult to decipher, so we'll head elsewhere for the time being. And then, we get to this. http://puu.sh/aeyLm/16b0bba1fa.jpg This part has been the most difficult to decipher - each of the three windows has a chance of popping up, and I have been unable to decipher a pattern. This time was run on non-compatibility mode, but I have also run it on compatibility for Windows 7 and Windows XP Service Pack 3, each having little effect on the success of the install. The instructions also say not to update, which is why I'm hesitant to go ahead and press it. Now, then. Can we do anything with this? Quote
メルP Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 @ whoever created this releaseHoly shit... fuwa releases now ship daemnon tools too? Are you completely nuts guys? Its funny that you're trying to accomodate to every idiot out there, but yourself have no clue about what you doing. These releases should be labeled "creaded for noobs, by noobs". People need to learn how to do stuff properly and not be fed from the spoon.ZodaiThe release you have is a total crap.0) delete everything except the files that start with MUVLUV_1) download latest version of the Daemon tools lite from the official source, install as it should be (uncheck all the extra programs they propose you to install), reboot your pcAlternatively download paid cracked Daemon tools from torrents and install that. You can use cracked Alcohol120% too. There are many more siumilar software to mount images. Use the one that you like more.2) Download the official English patch from the official source, read the official readme, especially the "install instructions" sections.Mounting images with Daemon tools or similar is what you should be doing most of the time when you're going to install and read some VN. Learn it once, use it all the time. Stay away from fuwa releases. Quote
Life Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I took the fuwa release and it worked just fine but let daemon tools update. I downloaded my own version of Daemon and all it is, is something that allows you to access the files and it still works. Quote
メルP Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Nah, the release itself, the files in it, are fine of course (aside from daemon tools). The way it is done is not fine. There are no instructions that explain how to properly install everything, what choices user have, what can or can not be done. People should read official install instructions if they exist. And they do in this case. Even in case when there is no official readme, instructions you see in this release is a bullshit. Also, Life, please don't make users go to the device management and update drivers. While I agree that users should learn how to do stuff on their own, making them do it like this going way too far. They may actually break something. In fact, it is very rare that you need to update the drivers from there, regardless of the software in question. Quote

Stay away from fuwa releases. Truth be told, it does seem like an older ship - seems like most of it has gone down in complexity since then. Don't think there's been an install this difficult to get a hold of since Rewrite. Tay's install instructions also seem to assume you already have DAEMON set up, which I do not, sadly. I think I've found the site, but I'm unable to figure out which version to use, or if this would lock me out from any other games that require disc-mounting stuff after the trial runs out. Is there any information in terms of this? Quote

I'm assuming the one at the top of the list is the latest. Aside from that, I'm hoping anyone has a solution for if I have to use this at a later date for another VN, as the trial would have likely expired by then. I'm unaware as to what SPTD Driver refers to, but hopefully it isn't crucial to the installation. Going to attempt to get DAEMON onto the computer. Also, the file named 2) Run this Installer is clearly renamed - would this be one to delete as well, or should it be kept? Quote

You don't need to use trial version... there are free version called "daemon tools lite" and a paid one that has additional features. For this purpose it doesn't matter which one you use, but if you go for paid one - you have to get cracked version from torrents, not the trial. "2) Run this Installer" is the actual English patch. I'm not sure if that's the latest one or not. If you did downloaded English patch yourself and read the readme that comes with it - yes delete this file. Otherwise this file is what you would want to install. Quote
Zodai Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Right. Seems like I've been able to sort it out now. Aside from that, I need to know if Alternative has any common issues as well. Does it require DAEMON too? Quote
メルP Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Right. Seems like I've been able to sort it out now. Aside from that, I need to know if Alternative has any common issues as well. Does it require DAEMON too? What do you mean by "common issues"? So far everything that was discussed in this thread is not an issue, it's "I have no clue what I'm doing and provided instructions is a misleading" As for Alternative... do you even understand why you need daemon tools and what it does? Obviously any game or program that you download in a form of disc images needs some software to properly deal with them. Is Daemon tools required? - no, if you're experienced and know possible problems and solutions. Is this a proper way to do it? - yes Can I use other software to mount images? Not Daemon tools? - yes Of course there may be common issues other than that, read the readme to find out. Quote
Zodai Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Truth be told, I've downloaded from Fuwa on multiple occasions - this is the first time anything along the lines of Daemon or disc mounting has come up. I suppose it's simply something I'm not accustomed with. It seems as though Alternative requires such methods as well, so I will have to install that as well before the trial on DAEMON runs out. Quote
Zodai Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 It would seem I have one more question - it seems Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited have seperate files in the install - Extra being MUVLUV_EXTRA.ccd and Unlimited being MUVLUV_UNLIMITED.MDS There are also accompanying files with the same names under .iso, which I'm assuming has to do with DAEMON. Before this, I was under the assumption that Unlimited was installed alongside Extra, but I may have been mistaken. Is there any information on this? Quote
Zakamutt Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I don't actually know what they do, but the mds and ccd files can probably be ignored. If there are two different ISOs, you prolly have to deal with both to install. Try it, it's unlikely to bite you (too hard.) I imagine it might have been a two-disc release from the start. --- For what it's worth, the YU-NO release has ISO stuff as well and wasn't as confusing, despite there being some steps you wouldn't necessarily expect detailed in the readme (then again, I know what I'm doing, so maybe that one says "mount the iso...")
