InvertMouse Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Hello folks . I am currently on a two week break from my day job. For these two weeks, I will be locking myself in a library to do game development work. I would also like to take a break from time to time with some VNs. Obviously, in a public place, I am unable to read any 18+ stuff . Any games you guys can recommend? Narcissu would be a great example. Mostly text and definitely no ecchi CGs of any kind. I have already read that one, though. Thank you ! Quote
killerjuan77 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 The All Ages versions of Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua, Hakuoki, Sweet Fuse, Ever17, Remember11, Zero Escape series and World End Economica. Quote
Guest Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Symphonic Rain isn't that long, it's safe for work and honestly pretty good. You should be able to finish it in two weeks Quote
Life Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 You can read G senjou no maou. Theres a patch that removes anything H. Symphonic rain and Ever 17 I agree with. They're all great VNs. Also anything key post clannad. Quote
Silvz Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Higurashi and Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, both with no ecchi at all, but very freakin' good stories =3 Quote

zoom909 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Mirai no Kimi to Subete no Uta ni (and it's short too, like one route of a regular VN without the common route) Edit: NEVER MIND, there's no H but I forgot you see her in her underwear, probably not what you wanted for a libary. Quote
Flutterz Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Well, I've read quite a few 18+ VNs in public places, including a library. The secret is to find a spot where nobody can look over your shoulder. A seat in a corner is perfect. That said: If you haven't read Ever17 and Steins;Gate, definitely read one of those, although they're pretty long and I know you don't like long VNs that much. Chaos;Head is a hit or miss - I didn't like it that much, but a lot of people did. Higurashi and Umineko are great, you might even be fine with the original graphics since you read One, but the graphics patches are great too, especially since the Umineko one also adds voices. If you do read them it's preferable to read Higurashi before Umineko, but it's not the end of the world if you do it the other way around. I'm sure you've read Planetarian but I'll mention it anyway just in case. Seconding the Symphonic Rain suggestion, it's not as long as some of the others I've suggested and it's really good. Obviously Clannad, Little Busters and Rewrite if you haven't read them already. Finally, True Remembrance, Lonely Yuri and Ballad of an Evening Butterfly are short and safe. True Remembrance has an interesting story, Lonely Yuri is pretty much an hour of shoujo ai and Evening Butterfly is just weird, but still an interesting read. Quote
Mephisto Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Steins;Gate. The localized version of Grisaia(note there will be stuff that's still borderline SFW) Any key game (not ex version of lb) eien no aselia Quote
MDruidd Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Clannad Steins Gate Ever 17 Rewrite Symphonic Rain All Age Quote
Okami Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 The ones nobody mention yet are: Aoishiro Amaranto Katawa Shoujo (Has an option to turn of a H) Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete (Without a fan restoration patch) Mr. Meogii and MDruidd 2 Quote
Clephas Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Cross Channel has the option to remove H-scenes, as does Tsukihime (with english patches). Quote
InvertMouse Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Thank you for the responses everyone! I reckon I might give Symphonic Rain a try . Quote
babiker Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Do you mind one more? try nanolife, a verrry short android VN that's available for free in the play store. It's about an MMO, and it makes you ask questions you've never asked before;is it really right to kill monsters just for some EXP? Really deep story with cute art and nice music. And seeing that it only takes half an hour to an hour to read, it's the best choice for a break (and of course, no H-scene) http://vndb.org/v10165 Quote
InvertMouse Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Of course I don't mind babiker ! The shorter the better for me, to be honest. I love that feeling of having finished a game. Downloading now . babiker 1 Quote
InvertMouse Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 By the way, of course I am joking about this, but I can imagine one of your folks going "urm yeah how about Bible Black that one should be a good read" then laughing your ass off as I go to the library (;w;)! yashasupercow 1 Quote
Zakamutt Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Sepia tears is a decent oelvn with some nonshit prose on occasion, non-h of course. Maybe a 3 hour read or something, but I read slow so idk. Quote
Tenkuru Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I recommend you to read True Remembrance and Symphonic Rain. There're many other all-ages VNs out there, but since they're more or less well known, I doubt I'll need to state them. Quote
Nyanko Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Higanbana might be good for this situation, it has chapters with little stories. True Remembrance is a nice short VN too. Quote
InvertMouse Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Thanks for the further recommendation guys . I have actually read True Remembrance many years ago when I was in university. No longer can I recall what the story is about, though ^-^;. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Symphonic Rain and Key stuffs. Symphonic Rain is something I highly recommend though. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Symphonic Rain and Key stuffs. Symphonic Rain is something I highly recommend though. Weeping manly tears in a library might not be a good idea. babiker 1 Quote
