When I say 'heroine' I'm referring to the girls you can end up with in most visual novels. And when I say type, I'm referring to:

Loli, Tsundere, Childhood friend, or whatever, make up your own parameters!

I'd recommend providing examples and explaining why, although it's up to you.

Examples can come from any visual novel, anime or manga you deem appropriate for the topic at hand.

So then, I'll start with mine.

My favourite type of heroine is usually the Kuudere character. An emotionless girl who gradually opens up.

Haruka Higuchi, from Never 7 was the first and one of the best heroines like this for me. What I like the most about these types of heroines is the way their personality changes, usually for the better, over the course of the story. Even better, is when we get to see the other characters react to these changes.

A variation of the previous heroine is the bookworm. It doesn't really need to be books or anything, but that's what most of them are like.

Mio_Nishizono_7_E.jpg

An example is Mio Nishizono.

To date, she's my favourite heroine ever. Like Haruka, she changes her personality over the course of the game, if only so slightly and only with the protagonist. The main reason she's my favourite is because of her quiet personality and the weird things she sometimes says and does that totally don't fit her character. Of course, intelligent heroines are always a plus.

The following doesn't really fit any archetype I can think of, so please, go ahead and enlighten me if you can.

Kokoro.jpg

Kokoro Fushikawa

Is she a... rich girl?

I can't really tell. She's one of my favourite heroines, once again, because of her change in personality. She goes from utterly obnoxious to a normal girl. And that, I absolutely adored.

Now, bellow are some other types I also like:

Tsundere, and I mean the ones who open up to you. Not the ones who go berserk and turn back in a matter of minutes.

Loli, I can't survive cuteness, I'm afraid.

Childhood friend, honestly, I find these a bit strange and unrealistic.

For starters it is highly unlikely that one would fall in love with a childhood friend, secondly, who the hell would harbor feelings for someone for years on end, and instead of going out and profess their love, they decide to drop hints that they may or may not be in love with said person...?

No matter, that kind of dedication makes me like these heroines.

And that all, folks!

P.S. When I searched for threads similar to this, I found one, but since it was long dead and buried I made a new one. I apologize in advance for any mistakes on my part.

Well... I think my favorites are pretty obvious....

Lolis FTW.

But choosing a personality, I'd for childish kuudere, like Chino from Gochuumon I guess. I like the process of them gradually opening up to you, and finding out that they are actually very needy of attention.

my favorite type of "dere" is a yandere i don't why i fall in love with someone who's potentially  going to kill me but i just can't help it

unfortunately there isn't many visual novels who have yandere heroine in them (at least translated ones) anyways i'll have to go with miyuki from kimi to kanojo to kanojo no koi

as for my second favorite i'll go with kuuderes like yumiko from grisaia

they show a lot of affection towards you when they open up and i find that really cute

I don't think there are that man people like me, especially around here, but I prefer dark girls with mysterious backgrounds. Ones that are difficult to win, or that simply find it hard to take you seriously, so you end up doing a lot to prove yourself for them.aka: Kuuderes. Who doesn't like a challenge?

Akane from Rewrite would be an example, also Kurugaya from little busters!

I don't mind tsunderes. I just feel like I've gotten bored cuz theres so much of them in manga, anime, VN, etc

And I absolutely despise lolis! How can you take a girl seriously when she looks like shes 8 years old...

and... may the flaming begin!

I'd be careful if I were you. You're in Fuwanovel, certain things must be kept to yourself unless you want to end up dead  :P

Well, I know I should be doing something more important than this, but procrastination cannot be stopped.

Not in any particular order. I apologise for any inaccuracy with my character example images.

1. Kuuderes

F06.gif?5706

Kuuderes are mostly known for their cold nature. While similar to a tsundere in harshness, a kuudere would display little anger towards another character. They could perhaps get annoyed. Kuudere characters are hard shells to crack, and the prerequisites to win a kuudere over is rather difficult to obtain (not in the anime world, at least).

2. Detective-types

8f359ba1e548454f49a0e9f915389b78.gif

I definitely prefer intelligent heroines, detectives in particular. This trait is usually given to male protagonists. The duty of a detective is to solve a mystery, and find the culprit. Rather simple. These character-types just interest me.

3. Cheerful Unpredictable-types

tumblr_mvijhz3YaR1rvzdzso1_500.gif

Characters like these interest me a lot. They're fun to be with, and their actions usually result in very interesting (and peculiar) moments.

4. Strong-minded-types

tumblr_n5l8hyPLUl1tzvo6co1_500.gif

Characters like these tend to be leaders. I enjoy watching leaders who actually impose authority over their followers, while not being completely totalitarian. Leaders who aren't strict are great too, but I prefer strong-minded ones.

5. Reasonable-types

tumblr_m7xh0vxsGu1r23ps8o1_500.gif

Cool and confident characters are quite nice, in my opinion. This is a trait commonly attributed to senpai characters. Their every action gives off hints of awesomeness in them. These characters may seem playful, but they're always cool-headed during dire situations.

I love how 3 people replied but no one answered the question :P

I'll answer then. Cute is Justice. Case closed.

I tend to like kouhais. Specially the submissive type. Most heroines just annoy me (I can't find any reason to care about them. Don't like action types, not elegant. Cheery onee-san or childhood friends keep pestering you when you just want to be left alone, makes me feel like blowing up. Imoutos are the definition of spawn of evil, unless they're done in a very specific way. When there's drama, it's always so predictable I just sigh and say "get on with it", so they all fail at making me interested ).

Loli is just a body type, it's not related to personality, on which case I don't mind it, doesn't make a difference.

Kouhais are generally fine, though. They work so hard to get your attention, it's enough of a reason for me to care a bit. And I like the submissive types that let you think in their stead and order them around. If the protagonist is too focused on combat, having the partner think instead is fine, though.

Is that really true? I've never met a smart loli in a VN before, though I suppose that because i haven't played that much VN's.

Yep, it is. You can be the wisest and most intelligent girl on earth, and you can also have 100000 years- as long as you have an underdeveloped childish body, you're a loli. Smart lolis appear somewhat often. More common in fantasy, where the girl can be a vampire or some sort of magician or in sci-fi, where some sort of youth machine-thing has been invented.

But I digress- we're too off-topic, people. If this keeps going too much, I'm cleaning or closing the thread.

Is this only restricted to VNs?

My favorite types would fall into Kuuderes I suppose but not necessarily. They're usually inflexible and hardheaded but vulnerable to me. Heroic and honorable whether they're good or evil, making you go "'Dat badass bitch made my heart skip a bit!" Outwardly friendly and outgoing like a puppy, and fun to be around. Mature and wise, yet childish and fervent. The cliches they fit into usually fall under the airheadeds, onee-chans of the family who sport pony-tails and/or carry swords for that reason. The only drawbacks are they tend to be preachy and critical but most of them tend to give in after you plead and whine.

3.) Saber

4.) Suzuha

5.) Kenshin/Yamamoto

My anti types are Tsunderes, Danderes

Tsunderes: Annoying. Are often immature, and prone to lying out of insecurities. Trust is an issue and their low self-esteem can find its way to affect you. Examples: Rin Tohsaka and most girls with Pigtails and lolipop. Exceptions are: Sakaki - Grisaia: Tsundere/Kuudere and Kurisu - Steins;Gate: Soft Tsundere with more Dere than Tsun. Only Tsun when Akabe teases her.

Danderes: Punching bags. Are they naturally kind or are kind out of fear? Equal or worse insecurity issues than Tsunderes. Doormats 'nuff said. Example: Sakura Matou. Often end up as Yanderes when the world doesn't reward them for their kindess. Lack of principle. Exceptions: Amane - Grisaia: Dandere who becomes a badass bitch in the end.

That said, I really need to start cramming more VNs to expand my list. Sadly, I found few heroines with the traits I like when I search VNDB. Most are untranslated.

As long as she calls me Onii-chan and looks like a loli I'm good.

Don't think I need to formulate a huge paragraph on this.

Personality wise I prefer more sadistic lolis but I find most lolis cute regardless.

But she definintely must be an imouto to fit within my favorite type.

I usually detest traps but I really liked Salem's character and personality design from Sekien no Inganock.

Probably the most twisted trap I've come across but he's sexy and I didn't know it was a trap until feelings were involved.

<---- is it not obvious

If you were to ask my fetish, I would say your typical nee-san (not necessarily femdom) and tsundere. But if I'm playing a visual novel, my favorite heroines would be those who are just hard to get, and they usually take on the character of a nee-san or a kuudere. The more emotionally distant/superior they are, and the more challenging they are to get, the more I feed off of their routes.

It's very interesting to see how the protagonist gets into these kinds of characters, and once he establishes a certain relationship with them they show different sides of their personality that usually come off as very peculiar. That or playing as the protag sort of compensates for my inability to get over emotional barriers with difficult women in real life.
