I love rock and (heavy) metal mostly. The reason is that I think their lyrics tell a story and nearly always have a very deep meaning. Especially old school rock has nearly perfect melodies.

My all-time favorite song is Santa Fe by Jon Bon Jovi:

The second place goes to Anthem of the Angels by Breaking Benjamin:

The third place is either Nothing Else Matters:

...or Hopeless, again, by Breaking Benjamin:

I've been listening to the same few bands for over 6 years, that count as something right? Those few bands are- Placebo, MSI, Imogen heap, Birthday Massacre and Chevelle. My favorite song is Running up that hill by Placebo, and Blue by Birthday Massacre. My recent favorite artist is Shinji Hosoe, and Stateless.

What songs of Hosoe do you like?

Virtue's Last Reward is my favorite game ever.

I second this. Blue Bird Lamentation is probably the saddest song I've ever heard, although the Clannad OST offers some stiff competition.  I mainly listen to songs from anime and video games.  I'm quite fond of Shoji Meguro (especially the Persona games) so I'll share the battle theme from Persona Q which has been in my head since the trailer three months ago.

I think Morphogenetic Sorrow is sadder than Blue Bird Lamentation. The reason is:

When I reached Luna's plot lock, I thought I just forgot what it was and looked it up. So, I felt disconnected from Luna ending actually, so it did not have its full effect. Also, it does not hold up on its own. It's like hearing Morphogenetic Sorrow for the first time when you get the true ending of 999 which was spoiled for you- it would not have its full effect.

With Shoji Meguro composing it how could it be bad? XD

For me, Luna was the character I was able to connect with the most throughout the game, so her ending was the saddest and most emotional thing that I experienced prompting me to fall in love with the song.  History has proven that I seem to get most attached to the androids for some reason.

Don't do it man.  (Don't click the spoiler button, do finish Virtues Last Reward.)  Pretty sure that Christmas break was the only two successive all nighters I've pulled.

Also, TWEWY music anyone?

Man, persona 3 and 4 were my favorite games of all time. They're what actually got me into visual novels believe it or not.

Really, I never got too much of a visual novel vibe from them.  For me Zero Escape and Ace Attorney got me interested and watching Clannad served as the final push.

The Little Jumper version is definitely nice, but nothing beats the original for me. ^^

Also, I've re-discovered my love for Chata. Haven't really heard her much after Hoshimemo, but I started listening to some stuff on youtube and it's been really nice. In addition to all the official work she's done, her doujin works are brilliant. This is my current favorite:

I tend to listen to game/VN/film soundtracks. I like powerful or simple music that carry emotion along with it.

I don't listen to music much. I mostly prefer movie/anime soundtracks that sound 'epic' and pump up your adrenaline (TDK soundtrack, for example), or soundtracks that are emotional and tearjerking. I guess you could also call these 'mood songs.'

I do like a number of specific titles that aren't soundtracks though, such as

This question just kinda got my interest fire up. The reason? Well I for one have a really weird taste in music. Well at least that's what the people around me say.. I think they are right. I have not even found the right name to the genre of music I listen to yet :o. They are basically instrumental music used in movies. So maybe "Movie music" would be the appropriate term :) My favorite artist group so far is "Two steps from Hell".

So I'd like to know what you guys enjoy listening to.. ? :)

I listen to soundtracks. Films, VNs, games... that kind of thing. I like music that is emotionally moving and I find that vocals stray from that a little so yeah. Just soundtracks really.
