Rilarion Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 So is this actually a good VN? I've been looking at it for awhile and can't decide if it's worth to play. Quote

suikashoujo Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Yeah, this is one that I was somewhat disappointed in, tbh. Mayuki was cute and some of the side characters were alright, but I wasn't a fan of most of the other characters, which is kind of a problem in a character-driven VN. Maybe I'm just not enough of an action/fantasy fan. Quote
Oiacz Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I started playing Comyu last week. I didn't make a lot of progress, but from what I played, I think I'll like the novel a lot.Since F/SN, this is the first VN with some kind of "real" action and fighting that I play. Quote
blackdemigod09 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Hello guys!, I'm currently reading Comyu right now and I'm wondering if the MC "Akihito" will have a badass scene in the VN, it kinda bothers me if the MC is a coward considering the fact that I've read and finished Grisaia no Kajitsu and G senjou where the MC's are not annoying and has some badass moments.  Well, even if Akihito is coward i will still continue to read this cause i find the plot interesting.  I know its early to judge the MC bc its been 2 hours since I've started reading comyu.  I want to back read this thread but im afraid to be tempted and might spoil myself. Quote

Rilarion Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Thanks for the reply, this is what i needed.  though I have a question, was the ending satisfying for you?  I was, but it's not for everyone Quote
blackdemigod09 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I just finished Benio's route, where they "managed" to change the kings heart or something like that, then after some scenes, it takes me back to the title page and now but i dont know what to do next. did i do something wrong? how can i unlock the other route? help, Quote

Next time you start over, there'll be additional choices for you, you can go for Miyuki, Hisoka(you don't meet her the first time you play the game) and Ayaya now. Kagome's route (True Route) is unlocked after you complete these. Hisoka's route is a little obscured, so you should look at the Walkthrough in Fuwa, if you want. Or I can give you a few hints: Wait outside the bookshop and show interest in the transfer student , I'm not sure but as far as remember the rest is clear. Quote
Kurisu-Chan Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 When the professor revealed the truth about the system and the organization, i was worried because i thought to myself "...euh, is this steins;Gate? Am i Okabe Rintarou? is this just a chunnibyou dream?"   I liked Coµ. Quote
XD forever Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I've finished this game  some days ago, even if some characters (Kugura) and routes (Ayaya and some points of the Benio one) was disapointing I really enjoy the rest of the story (Expecially the last route!) and almost all the characters (Like Kagome and Gasai)  PS:fun side effects to have read this novel:I really can't forget the protagonist monologues about the red color and the gentle kingdom!XD Quote

Oiacz Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Wow, I played for 10 days and just finished common route today... Well, already started Benio. Â Want to finish this fast to play Sharnoth and Killer Queen =/ Kurisu-Chan 1 Quote

Oiacz Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 You could always put Comyu on hold if you're more interested in playing those titles. They're each comparatively shorter. Quote
Kurisu-Chan Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 True, but I motivated in playing Comyu at the moment, so I have to use this chance. Once I lose this motivation, it's difficult to regain it... and I couldn't forgive myself if I stalled on more novel hahaha  But I watched Sharnoth opening and, wow, thanks Kurisu-chan for the recomendation~ Quote
Oiacz Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 No problem, and yes most people don't give Sharnoth it's chance because of the female protag, but it's really interesting to play it.  But so long, what do you think of Coµ?  Well, I liked the plot, the action, characters... but until now, it's kind of "normal." I would say it's like Akihito, a Bishop 7, 7, 7, 7. Doesn't have a speciality, but is good in everything I just didn't like Mayuki and Ayaya... and I think it would be better if Nanase or Haru had a route, not Ayaya...  And the Common Route ended with a kind of closed end, so it's difficult to have motivation to continue playing. It's different from Rewrite, that the Common Route ended in the climax, so you start the routes right away.  Obs: Yoshimori is mah waifu Quote

Kurisu-Chan Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Does anyone know if it's just a coincidence that Caesar is pronounced like "Kaiser" in Comyu? I find that an interesting parallel, since Caesars (actually ended up meaning "emperor" after the first Caesar) and Kaisers (emperors of Germany; the title is similar to the Eastern European title of Tsar/Czar) were both extremely powerful positions of leaderships, which is what Gasai strives to achieve. I feel that it's just a coincidence born of the Japanese pronunciation of words from foreign languages, though it'd be quite interesting if it ended up being completely intentional.  Actually the name Caesar is pronounced in two forms : "Seisar" and "Kaisar", so they just used the second form of the name. Quote
Decay Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 The soft c is an anglicized way of pronouncing it, but in proper latin it's with a hard c. The german word Kaiser is pretty much how it was pronounced in the rest of the world. Off-topic facts because I'm bored: The title Caesar was adopted by many different countries, and they almost always kept the hard c. Usually it was used in an attempt to proclaim a relation to the old Roman Empire. The Russian Tsars attempted to give the image of being the successor of the Eastern Roman Empire (Russia was the "Third Rome"). The German title Kaiser you mention wasn't as a Kaiser of the Germans, but Kaiser of the Holy Roman Empire, a title traditionally bestowed upon the King of Germany by the pope. Even the one of the titles the sultans of the Ottoman Empire had was Qayser-i Rûm (Emperor of Rome).  Anyways, the point is, hard C followed by a long I is the way Japan and the rest of the world pronounces it, soft C followed by a long E is how us english speaking morons say it. There's no deeper meaning to the pronunciation used in Comyu. Quote

Oiacz Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Finished Benio Route. Sorry, but that was really dissapointing. I don't know if I can explain what I didn't like very well, but let's go...  First of all is Benio. She was funny to read, with all those reactions, but I don't like her ideals. It's pretty much the same ideals that Shirou (F/SN) has, but the characters are completely different. Shirou had a nice development from the begining to the end. But Benio... I feel that she ended the same way that she started. She didn't have a development, and worse, like Izawa says, she is like a stone in your way when she thinks that you're doing something wrong... but she doesn't give a better solution to anything! An impulsive character that do things without thinking on the consequences... from the begining to the end.  My second point is Akihito's development. He was a really good character and protagonist, from the begining to until... 3 scenes to the end. His cowardice and fears was nice to read. His point of view about the world and connections between people... but all that was destroyed when he... pretty much started to be influenciated by Benio's ideals. I think that this ending was just cheap and forced sentimentalism.  Stop Gasai, knowing that he is kind of right; knowing it won't help in anything; and knowing that it would worsen the situation... just for the sake of "I want." I would prefer if the route ended with them being in a neutral position than fighting Gasai. But Benio is an ally of justice, so the route had to end in an ally of justice way...  Well, nothing can do. Now go to Hisoka's Route~ And about Ayaya's Route, this thing has importance to the main plot? I want to skip it if I can. I can't see what a route with 2k lines for a side-character without relevance can give any usefull information e_e Quote

I can't see what a route with 2k lines for a side-character without relevance can give any usefull information e_e  Well yeah, as in real life, you can't just change the point of view of someone with sex, well more seriously, Benio is still Benio, even if she's now more perverted than Maidu-san.  As for Akihito fighting Gasai, it's not just Benio's wish, Akihito don't want to be a tool used by anyone, bessides, Izawa wouldn't accept that.  And for Ayaya route, it's not called "banal story" for nothing, Ayaya, as well as Mayuki, can be seen as "bonus" routes, they have some solid story, but not that much related to the "main" plot.
