Albedo Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 BTW do i have to do hisoka route to get to mayuki route? No, you can do Hisoka/Ayaya/Mayuki in any order you want. SuperWaffleNinja 1 Quote
Wahfuu Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I kind of agree that Gasai is extremely underutilized. He's a pretty cool character and I like his thoughts on evil, but he really should have shown up more. Quote

No, Gasai works well as a background character. You're not supposed to sympathize with his thoughts, logical as they are, you're supposed to put yourself in Akihito's moronic shoes and go "no but u is not saving everyone u evilz!!1!1!!" while you see the red color 5 times in a single scene. Gasai works because this game does tell you way, way more than it shows you, and if it started showing you all that Gasai does, it would lose focus rapidly. Quote

I never said anything about sympathizing or not, although I do. I just feel that he should have been more used, he should have had more time on the spotlight, even in Benio's route where he was the main enemy it was still just the fight and it wasn't explored after that, only a thought Yoruko had about Gasai's possible change nothing else. He should have had more screen time even as a villain. Quote

I could put up with the crap about justice but I didn't like how the battle ended. I would like at least for there to be different endings on Benio's route one of them could be Babylon destroying El-Araihrah. Quote

Undying Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Gawd Akihito is even more annoying than ever in this last route trying to save this girl. edit: I gotta say, I usually dislike lolis but Mayuki is my favorite heroine from comyu. Quote
arnez260282 Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 just completed 30 min ago, finally something interesting to read after grisaia. highly recommended though I could not take much from the"save the girl" moto from akihito. My top route are 1)Hisoka Normal end (Epic) 2)Ayaya (short and funny) 3)kagome Now I will continue with the acclaimed Muv luv series, wish me luck. Quote
Undying Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 So, sometimes I get so baffled about how much of a hypocrite Akihito is that I cant even laugh, the VN is good but the protagonist is horrible. Quote
Nerathim Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Haru is a true hedonist and her behavior isn't just here for the otaku-pandering, she's an essential part of the main group. (and it's intriguing that you're not interested in Gasai, the meeting with him was amazing) "it's hard to take Izawa seriously" Come on, he has taken down a bunch of thugs by himself at the begining, don't compare him to Kagome she's way too hard to reach haha. "Does the story improve with each playthrough? That'd make sense, and I'm kinda hoping that's true, otherwise I won't have a lot to look forward to." For me, yes. While I found the common route to be quite good and well paced, I was in extase in Benio's, Hisoka's and mostly Kagome's route. But I already read some thoughts of people who only liked the common route, it really depends. Quote
Nerathim Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I would be interested in Gasai, but I was just a little confused. Akihito just started calling him "King" without any explanation, and he seemed a little 2D from what I saw of him. I heard that he's not, but so far all I can really judge him on is his snarky attitude. Well, he already called Yoruko a "Knight" when he saw her and in his mind Gasai is the "King" since he owns Yoruko. And you already caught a glimpse of his ideals in the discussion but maybe that wasn't enough to pull him out of the "2D" side, fact is that you will learn a lot of things about him anyways. (and he has a very good point : sweet coffee is for weaklings) Not saying he isn't a badass, but I find it hard to take characters seriously when they're kids that are somehow seriously powerful. I think he must be around twenty. He's just small. And I agree with you about Benio, I liked her but more as en element than a character though, she contrast very well with other characters without that being awkward. Quote

I say its hard to take him seriously because the only thing it says about him is that he is a thug, but what type of thug he is? he is a drug dealer, a arms dealer, he takes people money from lunch? Is just to unexplained, and I find hard to take seriously young crime bosses, usually young people are at the bottom of the food chain. Is not that Im asking realism, but is too farfetched to think that a bunch of dangerous adults would let themselves be intimidated by a kid. Quote

Well there is a scene when he bumps into a man and a woman and the man in question just mocks Izawa and order him to get out of the way. (he get stomped out a minute later huhu) But aside from that we saw that Izawa has a fairly high reputation in town and most people are afraid of him, small stature or not he surely had to kick some asses when he started out. And it's heavy implied that he's a drug dealer, there is a dialogue when he shouts at one of his man at the phone about the price of something and thanks to Yoshimori's drugs problem we learn that Takakura city is clearly a "drug-oriented" city. Nerathim Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Of course this is intentional and Izawa's seiyuu is very very good imo and he retranscribes so well his impulsive character that he comes to be downright credible. Quote
Asterisk Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Just finished reading Comyu myself. Overall I enjoyed it but I found a lot to be desired. They could've put more time into developing people like Gasai or Nanase or even Kugura. Too much time was spent on other things and not the actual conflict between Caesar and the Round Table. Least I think so. Quote
Nerathim Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Yes there are a lot of little references like that. I don't know if you've seen Gasai's avatar but him and Yoruko's swords are named in reference to the novel "Watership down". Later in the VN there are also obvious references to LOTR. Quote
Rilarion Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Mayuki is my Waifu! I' ve finished the VN a couple of days ago, and it was really great. Well... not 10/10 great but still great. Benio's ending was a dissapointment, but I guess if she didn't do what she'd done there it'd ruin Kagome's route. Hisoka's route was a sad one but I'm glad it ended well. I hadn't expect much from Ayaya's route but it was suprisingly fun with Four Heavenly Kings and all that, I've laughed a lot. Mayuki's route had a lot of character development, and she really deserved that development. She's the one who made me a lolicon after all... And Kagome's route was pure epic, Babylon rocked!! Especially the part where this song started to play was awesome; Other than the characters the story itself was very well done, each route added something to the story and Kagome's route finally entered the main story. It really showed us what'd happen if people randomly came together and had a superpower, Akihito's look on the world was a new perspective to me, even though I don't share his opinion on everything, the part about this world being a gentle Kingdom was a pretty deep and accurate one I saw several posts about Akihito being a whore and cheating on other people but I don't think I can agree with that.. First of all on Benio's route Akihito didn't cheat on her since they weren't together when he slept with Haru, it isn't cheating, I don't see any man refusing that maid as long as they're single (most would do it even if they weren't single though). The only part where one could consider cheating is the Yoruko scene which I consider a dissapointment, that scene was really unnecessary. My opinon on that maybe biased though since I dislike the Rondo-Yoruko duo I was hoping the last H-scene would be Nanase's.. Quote
KeyFeels Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Only route i was disappointed in was the Benio route, if we are to assume that was even a route. Mayuki#1 Kagome#2 the rest is good but not as good as those 2 Quote
Lambda Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I recently finished Comyu. Akihito... was pretentious and could not think anything but the same phrases over and over. 'I remember the red colour" is actually fair enough, he's been through a lot, but does he really have the exact same thoughts about the nature of human connection with every sex scene...? Every single girl makes him feel exactly the same...? That's kinda sad. The sex scenes appear to exist in an alternate dimension, and the fact that in Kagome's route it appeared to be like 'let's let every girl Akihito can bang live and be important and only them + Izawa! Yeah!' ...I wanted more Gasai... I actually felt like the Benio route end fit her character. I didn't mind it too much... It fuelled the Gasai x Akihito. Good ship. They can both be pretentious idiots together. :') But I have to say, despite constantly saying Akihito is only nice to women, I didn't get it...? The guys that he meets are 1. hostile towards him 2. joking with him or 3. not in trouble. I didn't see him get a chance to be nice to a guy that treated him even neutrally without a woman nearby so they could fall back on that trait...? (As a girl, I can only hope that there are men around my age that don't act like Akihito when in a relationship...). Best girl was Kagome. That final fight...! I was really fascinated with the Hemingway references in the route titles? Like, I recognized A Farewell to Arms, but had to look up almost everything... It was interesting how they all seemed to fit. It's a cool theme to pattern it off of, to the point where my dad and I actually had a bet as to what Kagome's route would be named... For nothing but pride, of course. If you haven't looked up Hemingway and seen how they connect and you're kinda interested, you should definitely check it out. It's a good night's read and really renewed my interest in Comyu when it was waning. Quote

I talked about it like a book and said each chapter was named after a Hemingway novel, named the chapters, so what would the last chapter be called? Type of thing. Quote
Sonrio Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 So is this actually a good VN? I've been looking at it for awhile and can't decide if it's worth to play. Quote
