OriginalRen Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I was making a thread recently, and I noticed this: Prism Rhythm Opening vs. Nursery Rhyme Opening Notice the similarity during the parts I linked. While I understand that Lump of Sugar makes both of these games, the year difference (2010 vs. 2005) seems to strike me as odd that the tunes sound so similar. In fact, go ahead and listen to the whole opening for both games and tell me if you think the same thing. Is it just me? Quote
babiker Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Another fun fact: Japanese seem to have a childish taste when it comes VN titles. First little busters, and now nursery rhyme... I'm having a very hard time convincing people I'm playing mature games, and not some barney/telletubie show... Quote
Darklord Rooke Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Another fun fact: Japanese seem to have a childish taste when it comes VN titles. First little busters, and now nursery rhyme... I'm having a very hard time convincing people I'm playing mature games, and not some barney/telletubie show... Because games are aimed at a younger audience in Japan than in the West. Average age of gamers in Japan is 15 or so, visual novels usually aim their games a little higher - say late teens early twenties maybe. Average age of gamers in the West was 37 - it dropped to 30 once they started including all those social media platform games. EDIT: Nevermind, I'm getting conflicting statistics regarding the average age of a gamer in Japan. I'm going to have to defer to someone who lives there. Fairly certain the average age of a gamer in the West is higher than in Japan though. Quote
Narcosis Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 It's not a childish taste; Japanese gamers are typically older than those on west, but they are simply immature, when it comes to games. I cringe every time when I see pics full of "adult" people, queuing in line just to take a peek under a skirt of some fictional character made out of cardboard. I quite understand their different mentality "when you're having fun, you are supposed to have fun, age doesn't matter", but there are some things people can do, and some things that shouldn't be done at all. Tho, most of those guys are already striked out as self-respectable members of society, so I wouldn't be surprised they don't care anymore. Lump of Sugar is awful, like most similiar studios currently churning out cheap moege. Quote
Fiddle Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 This is a relatively old, and as far as I know somewhat popular vocaloid song as well. So, make of that what you will. Quote

How can you say "there are some things people can do, and some things that shouldn't be done at all?" What gives you the right to decide? I've got some advice for you: if you want to make friends and keep them, stop stating your opinions as if they are facts. Assuming you can even tell the difference. Perhaps it's your taste in games that's awful... Quote
Narcosis Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Those things are called moral and societal standards. They differ from community to community, but a lot of values are upheld universally, all around the globe. Got a problem with that opinion of mine? Feel free to discuss, for all I care. I am an adult, playing adult games and all's fine with the world. In comparision to some of the earlier examples, I am keeping it under my own roof, instead of risking public embarassment and making other people around me uncomfortable, as well. Are you a huge fan of LoS games? If so, I am terribly sorry I offended your allmighty personal preferences. PS. Keep your advices to yourself, okay? I got some for you, though: Have a nice day. Quote
babiker Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Wow, you rarely see this kind of stuff on Fuwa. I hope it dosn't start spreading... But back on topic, Rooke, no matter how young the average gamer is in Japan, I don't think they'd be using titles fit for, um well, nursery rhymes and toddler shows. Here is a comparison:- Humpty dumty, 3 blind mice, nursery rhyme, 3 little monkeys, little busters, ... You get the picture. Were is the odd one out? If you ask that to a VN noob, he'll probably say there isn't one. ... Hey, wait a sec. This wasn't the original topic! (face palm) sorry for that Ren. We need a new topic now... Quote

I think the most notable similarity is the voice.. otherwise the tune/song still sounds different enough for me xD. I liked Nursery's song more, but I liked Prism's video more. Just from watching those two openings, I would choose to play the Prism game ^^ The cutesy song intro (even though it can be considered childish) seems to make the girls presented in the VN come off even more cute which could help draw in. Perhaps that's just how it makes me feel, lol. And I think the childish aspect, can make people feel young again when playing the game (if they are in their older years). Quote

Laugh about it if you want, but I'm not the one who waltzed into a thread about lump of sugar opening themes and basically said who cares, all their games are trash anyway This is not 4chan, where you invade any thread just to aggravate people Keaton 1 Quote
