Its easier on everyone that way, cuts way down on the need for technical support since not everyones hardware is the same it makes those prepatched releases less likely to run. Up until recently this wasn't a problem but the last 3 Fuwanovel releases all had some issue of some kind, so please just include the original setup and the patch.

Suppose this goes in a suggestions thread (now reported for potential move), but I'll briefly respond to this: you yourself had 17/20 work out fine, so it's not a huge problem; the other way is probably worse due to having to learn mounting discs etc (I've seen some serious confusion on our tech support threads about that.) We have considered providing ISOs and links to patches / patch homepages while also carrying prepatched releases in the past, and I'm not entirely sure why it hasn't happened (could be problems with confusing users.)
Kendjin Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 After giving it some thought, there would probably be no issue in linking to a source for the original ISO, but if we do that and its dead, we will most likely get complaints about the speed. If we start to host the original patch and ISO as well as pre-patch (this is unlikely to change due to it being the fuwanovel's thing since inception), we will need more storage and bandwidth.

If it's possible to release the games prepatched without major technical issues, then it should be done so. I have more technical issues downloading raw games than pre-patched games. (Well, been a while since i downloaded a patched game so not sure how much that means)
Bolverk Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Prepatched is the way to go imo. Honestly the main reason why people compain about them is they are used to non-prepatched. They know how to fix them and get around issues. Pretached on the other hand they don't. In the case they acutally prefer non-prepatched it's pretty likely they know where to get the game ISO's from elsewhere and get the patch. So I really don't see this as an issuse. As for my personal experience with pre-patched, they have always worked without any issues for me. Each time I install my raw JP vn's I am pretty much expecting something to go wrong. Pretty much visual novels are a bitch to get working.
