sanahtlig Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I'm usually against H-scenes so I can say I'm glad Steam players are getting a choice. I feel compelled to point out that Steam players would only be "getting a choice" if both the 18+ and all-ages releases were sold alongside on Steam. That lack of choice is why Steam could be considered a "censored" platform. Quote

That lack of choice is why Steam could be considered a "censored" platform. What I find hilarious is that Bonetown: Mature Edition got greenlit a few months ago and it's literally a censored version of a porn GTA clone where you attack minorities and have sex. The original version is still on sale and it's as hardcore as it gets. Quote
Decay Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Serious question: What's so good about Euphoria? When I look at it, it seems like a trashy torture porn nukige with a faux-deep story attached. I find it hard to believe there's anything worthwhile to it but I see people flipping their shit over it so I'm pretty confused. Quote
killerjuan77 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Yay writeup. Yay, you mentioned Kitty Tama Serious question: What's so good about Euphoria? When I look at it, it seems like a trashy torture porn nukige with a faux-deep story attached. I find it hard to believe there's anything worthwhile to it but I see people flipping their shit over it so I'm pretty confused. From what I've seen and my experience with the VN's trial it's the part when you find out who's running the whole game and why that makes it unique. I've also heard the characters actually escape the game halfway through the VN and that what happens next is truly mindboggling. Quote
Zakamutt Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I wonder if kitty-tama will get lots of #rude asks now. But in the end, I just had to do it. Quote
Mephisto Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Look forward to 2 minori stuff and i hope someone pick up tsuki ni Yorisou Otome no Sahou in the future MG has localized navel games before, but I don't know if the japanese in that game is even possible to translate. Especially Ursulle. Quote
dreamweaver Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 i really hope they hit that sales target for Supipara because it would be cool if they continued the series. Quote
InvertMouse Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Never hurts to have more VNs coming to the West! I know nothing about the titles, and I am not one to be suckered in by $$$ trailers, but I will be keeping an eye out for sure . So Steam allows R18+ eroge on their platform now? Building a shelter now for when that reaction comes (((((>w<))))).......... Quote
Zakamutt Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 On their platform? nope. All-ages versions of such? yope. Quote
grim_tales1 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Euphoria? Oh boy. The synopsis sounds interesting but I'm not sure I actually want to see torture scenes and some other sick shit. Just the suggestion of it is fine for me, saying that I dont like having my films/games censored. Quote
Bolverk Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Well it will be interesting to see how the sales of Eden* goes on steam. It's good vn, albeit I don't like the artificial drama that Minori makes. Other than that, it was a really good vn. I don't like how the are giving all the profits to Miniori.... But I understand why they made that deal, still though lol. This might breed some interesting developments. Quote
Decay Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Saying they're giving all profits to minori is a disingenuous way of putting it. They're putting all profits into the development of another VN which they'll likely get a much larger profit share from than typical. Of Japanese sales as well, I'd imagine. Basically, you can say the profits are going into the expansion of MG's business. Quote

Just the suggestion of it is fine for me, saying that I dont like having my films/games censored. I'm planning on picking up the japanese version to see how good the story really is. I'm kind of curious how bad it can really get, so I'll be playing without enabling any of the censorship options, but I'm worried, to say the least. Kind of glad I still have other things to read. If I stall it long enough, I might just as well go with the MG version, but I doubt I'll hold out until then. I hate my curiosity. :x Quote

Do PM me your thoughts once you get around reading it or when you finish it (or drop/stall it if that happens), I am really curious about how it turns out. Quote

animegeek08 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Seriously, why cant mangagamer relase more popular titles from companies like Favorite or Yurosoft?! Most of the games have no stories. The ones that do usually are really depressing. Quote

The ones that do usually are really depressing. They translate what they can get. The Japanese companies have to agree to it as well, remember, this isn't like fan translations where they can do whatever. And some of the titles they're currently translating are pretty high profile. Quote
Decay Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 MangaGamer has a page up detailing how they'll be funding Supipara now: http://www.mangagamer.org/minori/ They actually have specific monetary goals listed, which is neat. The first two goals seem to be attainable, at least. It's more than you'd expect when you look at Sekai Project's kickstarters, but MG also isn't a startup so costs may be different, and maybe they're just inflating the numbers to ensure profitability, which is fine imo. The costs will probably go up with chapters 3, 4, and 5, since they will have to actually fund the development of those and not just localization. Quote
Kendjin Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Twist, they are gonna censor Euphoria and make it an All-Ages Game. Quote
Kendjin Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 The main story doesn't actually feature as much guro and nudity as you'd think. Its by no means a nice VN, but a lot of the content isn't X rated. Sadly the anime adaptation makes it look like its all about those scenes. Quote
Albedo Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Twist, they are gonna censor Euphoria and make it an All-Ages Game. They're gonna change the dialog and sell it on steam as Go Go Nippon 2. That'll make them a lot of money. Quote
