Hello everybody,

 

Thanks again for your patience as I recovered from my illness. I'm excited to begin our month of "cleaning house" and getting the site ready for the future. Today I'm putting out a call for anybody who is interested in moderating on the Fuwanovel forums. This is a major way you can help with the community (though not the only way!), and if you feel drawn to the work, let us know!

 

I've included a job description and requirements below. If this is something you'd like to do, please speak up! This topic is meant to stay open for some time, with action following (hopefully) within a week or so. Not everybody who volunteers will be chosen this time around, but calls for board moderators will happen periodically in the future, so you'll get another shot.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Job Description: Board Moderator

 

Requirements:

  1. At least 2-3 months of experience on the site
  2. At least 50 posts
  3. A desire to help out and keep the forums organized!

 

Duties: What will board moderators do?

  • Work with a global moderator to keep an assigned forum organized: topic moves, keeping 'derailing' to an acceptable level, reporting rule violations, helping new members find their way around your forum
  • Be responsible to brainstorm ways to make your forum better
  • Help people have fun and get to know each other

What board moderators are NOT:

  • Secret police, spies, thought control agents, or dictators over their forum

Important/Interesting Logistics:

  • Each board moderator will be trained by and report to a global moderator in a fancy coordination forum to which you'll be given access. In addition to your living, breathing global moderator trainer/compatriot, you'll have a handbook to reference. We won't throw you in the pool and expect you to swim ; )
  • Board moderators will be assigned to one or more boards (see the duties listed above)
  • You'll be expected to check in and work as a moderator at least two times a week
  • We'll consider board moderators first when openings in the global moderator ranks opens up

Checking into the forums twice a week. Each time you "check in" you agree to do up to 30 minutes of moderating work. You can do more, of course, but that's the basic commitment.

You're asking for derailment, tch, I must hold it in-- this may be a test.

 

I'm up for it if I'm chosen.

Ok, I think I can handle twice a week (I'm around a lot more than that).  I'm well organized so I think I could handle this well enough.   I would just say that I'm probably only fit to handle anything in general discussion so if you want help there I should be able to help but anything else I will turn down.  

 

I'd be happy with anime/manga, general discussion, etc.  I'm vastly unequipped to deal with the VN stuff and since I'm still a newbie I would just get in the way and there are many others who are way more qualified than me to handle that part.

I have the time, but I'm afraid I may lack the common sense for moderator work. 

Nevertheless, should you need help, I'm certainly free and willing.

 

...I wonder if my post is unclear and makes it seem like I'm not interested?

I'd be interested to become one for the Ongoing projects board, since I'm always lurking in this section.

Also I'm an organization freak (maybe a bit too much sometimes...). And I should be able to easily manage enough time on my schedule!

So I humbly propose my candidature^^

I will gladly throw my hat into the ring but I don't want to post a wall of text promoting myself here

 

It seems like there should be more information other than what we post here that will determine who is designated for the positions...

Will the candidates be contacted and asked for more information on what their strengths are and why they should be chosen?

I'm in the same boat as Stray Cat. I'd love to help out around the boards, but would only fit into the Anime & Manga and General Discussion. I'm also a person who doesn't take much harm in reading spoilers, if that's any plus out there (random thing that comes to mind with moderators :P)

I actively view the forums dozens of times a day, and usually leave without posting anything, so moderator duties would give me something to do when visiting. I'm all experienced with staffing a forum/website too, though my duties there are and always have been very small and infrequent, and more representative than anything.

Time limit: I plan on making the board moderator choices within a week to a week and a half. Feel free to throw your hat into the ring until I announce the list.

 

RE: How to find out if you were chosen -- Yes, you'll receive a PM from me to discuss this choice, and then it'll be posted publicly on the forms (including in this topic once the final list has been nailed down).

I've never done any kind of moderator work in my life so I don't know if I'm fit for this, but I'm willing to help as much as possible even in non related ways to this modding position.

I'd like to throw my name out for consideration.

 

It'd be awesome to contribute to this place; it's the only online community I actively engage in anymore. My schedule for the next year isn't too heavy. I've got a total of 7 classes to complete over 2 semesters. Apart from that, I've got a lot of free time until I find myself a job. I'll easily be able to meet and exceed the time requirement listed for the position. I'm not really the creative type, but I do like to think I have a knack for organization and an eye for details.

Being a moderator would mean I'd have to drop my current lifestyle; I'm way too used to it. It's a lot more... interesting to remain within the shadows and continue manipulating people, fufufu~

Not really, the staff have a lot of lolicons :P

 

Anyway, good luck on finding a suitable candidate Tay. I'm not interested in the job at this current time

 

 

Can we hold elections with campaigns and slogans and slander and attack ads? Because that would be the best.

Everyone Wants To Be A Millionaire Moderator.

 

Naturally, I would wish to be one too. However, I feel I am quite unreliable, since I have been temporarily banned twice. Can I just offer a suggestion? Could you maybe change up a little aspect of the banning thing? I really hate how the ban points tell you in extensive detail about who banned you and how you were banned, but expressly leaves out exactly what you were banned for. I find this annoying and unhelpful, since simply getting banned is apparently not enough for me to realize my mistake. Come on, we need this.
