Mikimir Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Personally, I just looooove No Game No Life. Too bad that there is a good chance that there won't be a season 2 since Madhouse is producing it :P but anyway, what are your opinions? Any other great fantasy anime/manga you enjoyed? Quote

The gate thus the JSDF fought there, great story and good charaters. to bad there will most likely never be a anime because of it not being moe. http://myanimelist.net/manga/41733/Gate:_Jieitai_Kanochi_nite_Kaku_Tatakeri Quote
Heizei_koukousei Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I don't particularly watch anime with fantasy elements. Realistic romance is what I go for Kuroshitsuji would be my favorite fantasy title, if you could even consider it fantasy Quote
Undying Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 any type of fantasy? I say bastard and berserk are my favorites, you just cant beat Dark Schnider and Guts. Quote
Tatsujin Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 lol too many to list. Fate universe, Gargantia, Macross Frontier universe (seriously, awesome technology!), Garden of Sinners universe, I really like Grisaia's universe too ... and ... this is going to sound weird and some may call me a sicko or whatever ... but I freaking love Muv-Luv universe and if I had the chance to live my life there I would so fucking do it. Fighting a powerful hordes of the unknown is pretty damn bad ass ... until I know I'm in the action. But the mecha, design and philosophy behind it literally bests any mecha out there. Chamber from Gargantia is on a really good scale with the TSF's from Muv-Luv as well. Quote

Tatsujin Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I always thought that muvluv had top notch mecha design, only Macross is better in my opinion. Quote

Asterisk Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Got three that come to mind. Berserk, Kara no Kyoukai (All of the TM stuff really), and Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. Quote
Undying Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Macross had nice designs, but there were philosophy setbacks, flaws and the structure didn't feel as realistic. This is just my personal opinion. Quote
Darklord Rooke Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Down is right, Muv-Luv and Macross are sci-fi. Grisaia is not fantasy either. My picks are Ah! My Goddess (urban fantasy) Red River (historical fantasy) and Orange Marmalade for paranormal stuff. Honorable mention to Blood Alone. Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I don't really have a lot of fantasies on my list, but here we go. For anime, my favorites are Clannad Afterstory, Shakugan no Shana, Fate/Zero, and Kyousougiga. Favorite fantasy manga would be Hibiki no Mahou. And as far as LNs go, I'd have to go with .hack//AI Buster, Toaru Majutsu no Index, and Sword Art Online. Quote
hydro Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I'll go with Fate/Zero and the original Dragonball. They're different in just about every conceivable way, but I love them both. Quote
Undying Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 another one I realy like is 3x3 Eyes, to bad it didn't get a decent anime adaptation. Quote
crunchytaco Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 This is tricky since Fantasy and Sci-fi tend to blur the line. In those cases those are called Sci-Fi fantasy. I believe you are just referring to Fantasy no? Then we have Star Wars that looks like Sci-fi on first glance, but many Star Wars expert consider it a Fantasy. It's not to be confused with Star Trek, which is an actual Sci-fi. Anyhow enough with the babble. I think when it comes Fantasy, Berserk was probably the series I came obsessively close to following for years. Only recently have I left it by the wayside, but that still doesn't change it's overall appeal standing for me. Claymore comes second, but like Berserk I dropped it long ago. Quote
Freestyle80 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Fantasy huh...never thought about it before from the top of my head i guess these: Legend of the Legendary Heroes,Tales of the Abyss, Code Geass(its partly fantasy,no?), Death Note, .hack//G.U. Trilogy(movie),Beelzebub, Kekkaishi, Steins;Gate, Monogatari series, Elfen Lied, Yu Yu Hakuso there are plenty more i loved prolly but thats all i can think of now Quote
Asterisk Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Forgot to mention Bakemonogatari. That is some fasciniating fantasy there Quote
crunchytaco Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Juuni Kokuki is a pretty deep fantasy, as far ancient fantasy settings goes in anime. I also like mythology and politics based on ancient China. The Japanese portrayed it pretty well here. Quote

Cyrillej1 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 First favorite is 12 Kingdoms. Second favorite would be Record of Lodoss Wars. Third probably Fushigi Yuugi. I wish to watch more anime like those... Quote
phersu Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Forgot to mention Bakemonogatari. That is some fasciniating fantasy there Quote
Undying Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Juuni kokuki and Record of lodoss war are on my top 10 list, and I forgot to mention them lol. Quote
