When do you consider that you finished a VN?

I consider a vn done when I complete all the good endings for all the routes, and the true route if the game has one. If I really enjoyed the vn, I'll go back and complete all of the bad endings and 100% clear it.

For me a Vn is complete when i finished all endings but only those you have story (unlike the dead and bad endings of f/sn)

I've been confused for some time about whether I've finished some VNs. It's because sometime I don't bother to collect all collectibles available, uninterested to read some extras, or unmotivated to see some additional endings. So I'd like you guys to help me define what "finishing" a VN is by voting.

I don't consider a vn finished until I clear all the routes, which includes all the normal/good and true endings for each route, I usually don't read the bad endings and also don't care about getting all the CGs.

It's personal and arbitrary thing. If you feel like you finished a visual novel just by reading all of the routes minus the bad endings or collecting all the cgs, then you should feel fine saying you finished it. Its not like there's some oversight committee regulating the proper use of the word "finished." 

 

For me, I don't really put down a visual novel until I've read through every single ending (good, bad, and in between) and obtain every single cg.  Exceptions are made in the case of lengthy gameplay vns.

For me personally, finishing a VN of means reaching a 'True end' of sort if that exist. If it's not, just completed all of the route also works fine,minus the bad ending and the normal one of course

for me finishing simply means getting all lines of text, which usually comes with all cgs as bonus.

I happily "finish" a VN when I read all the good and true route/s. I tend to leave the bad ones, unless it's important to the story.

I choose seeing all ending cause I like butterfly effect theory so I'm very curious about the consequence from all the choice.

I think seeing endings and completing CGs go hand in hand so they are pretty much the same to me. I usually try to 100% CG gallery since I save those in my folder vs downloading them. I like my computer resolution better vs downloading them from other websites...

Not always. Sometimes you may still miss some CGs even though you've cleared all routes or seen all endings.

This is interesting, because while I normally like to say I have read everything to call it complete, Grisaia did a terrible job at this. Yumiko is by default the route you enter if you don't go down any routes, and since the game literally has no epilogue and ends when you finish the last route, holy cow will that put a shitty taste in your mouth.

If that's the case 100% CG/Scene/Music/Omake is my priority for "finishing" a VN then. It's like playing RPGs and trying to score every single item there is. A completionist's nightmare, but a huge satisfaction and sense of accomplishment in the end.

I usually quit a VN when I have read one or two routes I am interested in. I rarely read a route with a character I dislike.

for me it also depends on overall interest really, but I mostly finish true and good routes before I consider it "read"

for me it really depends on the VN, if it really caught my attention i would finish every route and get all the CGs, some VNs i only want to play the true route.

I have to have seen all of the endings for me to consider a VN finished - even if that means the really awful, painful bad endings that I just don't want to do. I'll also aim to complete the true route last, which is sometimes railroaded anyway so it's not a problem.

For me, finishing a VN = done with the routes of all the heroines that I'm interested in.

Meaning, I can even call "finish" on a VN that I only read 1 route if there is only 1 heroine I'm interested in.

Anyway, I have finished a VN when I've read what I'm interested in, sometimes that is everything, sometime it's just one route. For example I consider my self to have finished Katawa Shoujo even though I've only read about two and a half routes, maybe one day I will read the rest, maybe I wont. It is however in my eyes finished.

Finishing all good endings. I can't stand bad endings - they're bad for my soul so it annoys me that there are always unique CGs to bad ending routes when all the effort to draw them could have gone to more unique CGs on the good routes.
