adamstan
Today I stumbled upon this song (I heard it on internet radio): Love it That such songs are still being made in 21st century is why I fell in love with J-pop I know it is very formulaic. It's just that J-pop formula resonates with me really well. Edited February 4, 2020 by adamstan Plk_Lesiak

It's just that J-pop formula resonates with me really well. I think this one's barely 20th century (like 15 years old), but I guess it counts. And it's hard to argue, particularily with this live performance it's quite lovely. I, on the other hand, have more fun than I've expected with Sakura Fujiwara's bootleg American folk. It somehow cracks me up that this kind of music is made in Japan. ^^ adamstan
adamstan
That's indeed nice Reminds me of some of the Kayoko Yoshizawa's songs. 19 minutes ago, Plk_Lesiak said: It somehow cracks me up that this kind of music is made in Japan. ^^ I feel like Japanese popular music is essentially a mix of various pop traditions from all the world. From different time periods as well. And often it brings interesting and pleasing results Edited February 5, 2020 by adamstan

Plk_Lesiak
I have a lot of sentiment for this An Cafe song due to it being my favourite opening theme to Darker than Black (which is also one of my favourite anime), but I never actually knew what the band looked like... This is not how I imagined it.

adamstan
Nice (even if simple) playing, however I'm not big fan of that singing style But overally nice song. Plk_Lesiak

It's pretty fitting for American folk though. I actually like it myself, but there's also the fact this recording is from 2013, when she was just 17. She refined her singing a bit since then. Now that you say it, I guess that was my main problem with it - she sounded too American for my taste Edited February 20, 2020 by adamstan

So it's symbolic. Some of it at least. Not sure about the closeup at the very beginning, but the rest... adamstan

Zidan209
I found this by pure chance, it's kinda hilarious. The fact that this thing has been on youtube since 2005 is incredible. Might be the oldest video on YT I've ever seen. Plk_Lesiak

Plk_Lesiak
I was looking for a good live performance of this song and well... Considering how Shizuka Kudo was singing at the beginning of her career, it wasn't easy. But finally, I found this one in which she seems to be slightly older and the difference is pretty significant. ^^ adamstan
Plk_Lesiak
I won't lie, I think one of the reasons I enjoyed Bakemonogatari is how excellent most of the OPs and the ED were... adamstan and Pyonnu

Plk_Lesiak
Best song, dumbest title & lyrics, just as it should be in eurobeat. adamstan
adamstan
Yeah, it sounds great. I'd prefer slightly different drums style, but songwriting is brilliant. Plk_Lesiak
Plk_Lesiak
I just randomly reminded myself that Kana Hanazawa is a proper singer outside of her Seiyuu work and discovered most of her stuff is on Spotify... With like 0 replays, so probably uploaded recently. Pretty cool songs, if you can get over her cutesy style of singing. :3 adamstan
Plk_Lesiak
Edit: I don't even feel justified making another post in this thread considering how much I spammed it for the past months, but can't help but share this one. adamstan
So now it's my turn I heard this song on a japanese local radio today, and for some reasons it really moved me: The girl who made this song, Youko Matsuura, seems to be rather unknown, she doesn't have any records released, just couple YT vids with a few hundred viewers. And now she seems to be doing similar thing to me, namely recording cover songs in her home and posting them on YT And I'm really tempted to do a cover of the above song... Speaking of which, a few weeks ago I did a cover of Anri Kumaki's song. It was my first attempt at singing in Japanese. Please forgive me for posting it here as well, but maybe someone will find it nice Edited April 23, 2020 by adamstan Plk_Lesiak
