Fuwanovel Osu! Thread

I've noticed a lack of Osu! stuff, so i decided to create a thread

What is it?

An awesome rhythm game that ranges from really fun, to inhuman levels of difficulty (and fun). There are (currently) 4 modes of play:

Standard - Use your mouse to click
Catch the Beat (ctb) - Use your keyboard to run around the bottom of a screen to catch fruit
Taiko - Drums, on a computer
Osu!Mania - Piano keys, I have no idea what the upper limit of the keys are (8 I think)

Osu! Players on Fuwanovel
(Just report your primary play style, and I'll add you to the list!)
Fuwa names in the center, Osu! names on the sides

Hehehe~~ It's so rare to see someone talking about this game outside OSU! Forums...

What i love form this game, we can find a lot of beatmap (song to be played) which taken from Anime or VN, That's good for references. For example Rita - Little Busters! -Ecstasy Ver.-, i.o - Aoiro Step, Da Capo II ~Asaki Yumemishi Kimi to~, and Aerodynamics Girls and Boys Poem (Subarashiki Hibi)...

I sometimes play Catch the Beat when I'm bored =3=

I usually play with mainly one key, not relying on the other nor the mouse clicks, I can spam hits very fast but my fingers get tired more easily this way :/

I should note I hit around 3400 pp or so

randomly do taiko/mania but not to used to them

primarily mouse only (single button mouse) + keyboard only for streams (but I always prefer to single tap EVERYTHINGUUU)

(I guess black switches in this steelseries 6v2 makes it hard for me to do normal tapping quickly enough... ah well)

(I stream this quite frequently)

EDIT:

What's this? I actually improved at this game, before I could only beat hard ©, and kitsuneko was like wut just happened/kinda thing, and now I can actually read the approach rate... oh at least up to around 20%-30% of the beat map ;o

like insane level, so that's fast shiet

also note that I basically single tap only

I probably should've used keyboard for the streams... but oh well

I don't really play anymore, I stopped getting better around when I started doing Insane songs, requires too much effort and time to get past that hurdle and I refuse to put that much effort into a game ^^;

Same thing happened with StepMania for me as well. It just gets too hard to be fun past a certain point.

No, Not sucks... Osumania is much harder cause they using beat rythm (not melody). on top of that, osumania map generated by vertical/horizontal coordinates of osustandard map.

I haven't see beatmap special for osumania (last time i update my songs is 4 months ago). Anybody knows?

Noobs like me can't play Osu, or at least haven't tried the game.

Try it then... take it slowly. i believe you can . Needs 2 months for me to mastering easy level...

I completely skipped easy, played like several normals to get used to it, and then went into hard very quickly

easy/normals at that time made me go to sleep (nomod)

then eventually I played easy's with HD+DT+HR, and normals with DR+HD or so

now I play some insanes/hards

no "beatmap generated only for osu!mania" atm, just taiko and ctb atm

since osu!mania recently added, they were trying to draft proper guidelines for it before, idk now

since I don't really play it

roll with easy or play with Easy mode / Half Time / NoFail or something

cause technically I did _bad_ on the map, but it's probably one of the harder maps I've ever passed

(and it seems most of the players here are mainly like in the normals-hard brackets or in ctb/taiko/mania so idk /shrug)

(I tend to compare myself to people better than me and say that I'm bad regardless)

that said I should probably do the map again to see if I can improve my score \o/

as for the video, just turn off the video then (move your mouse to the bottom of the screen and click "disable video" or go to options -> graphics - detail settings: tick OFF Background video (although this disables it for all maps)

best settings at least for osu! Standard

- use a custom skin that hides 300's at least

- tick off background video

- turn on snaking sliders

- turn everything else off there

turning off video is good since video is always distracting

- osu lets you dim the background (which sometimes is really hard to focus on what to click, especially for the harder ones) to about 40% or something without doing a playthrough (if you beat the beatmap, then you can dim 100%)

- disabling storyboard when able is useful too

- disabling their beatmap skin is useful too - some of them are just plain distracting (at least for osu!standard)

- beatmap custom sounds are tossup, I just disable it whenever I pass through just for the fuck of it... but meh/

all the pros in this game like don't play with anything at all

they even delete the background+custom skins

enough that peppy got pissed and made it so osu RAAAAAAAAAAAAAGES at you for deleting the background (and implemented the dimming feature)

and I should note when I did that in the past (removed bg/etc) it actually improved my play

(then again I'm playing to beat the beatmaps, not to watch videos)

Haha true. I usually end up looking at whatever is on the screen more then the fruit. But its not that bad on ctb, so i dont mind that much
