Well I disagree about calling it hack and slash anime, while there is a lot of that there is also another side to it witch you yourself said so, so I wouldn't agree that people who like Anime that they need to think about won't like it. That said I agree about most other things you said here.

And I have 2 suggestions for you:

- You might want to talk a little bit slower in some parts you talked to fast and it was hard to tell what you said clearly.

- You probably shouldn't start your review by hating on a very popular anime that a lot of people love when that anime doesn't even have anything to do with a review you are currently making.

If you can't handle an opinion different than yours then you shouldn't have started the video to begin with. Going with the trends and popular opinions just for the sake of being looked up on is just pandering. I don't understand why he should talk nicely about an anime if he thought it had problems. It's clear as day Tokyo Ghoul was not perfect and if you think it was absolutely perfect then there's something wrong.

I liked the review overall, it was an accurate representation of the anime's assets and flaws and it's also how i feel about it

It's so sad they didn't go into ghoul physiology and anatomy as opposed to the manga that had a whole chapter dedicated to explaining how ghouls work in detail.

It's also sad how at some point they just stopped caring for context or explanations on the characters which was very well explained in the manga.

But regardless even if Tokyo Ghoul sets up a 2nd season i won't be hyped for it at all given i've already read the whole thing, the manga fails exactly the same way the anime did and that is ending abruptly with no context or explanation whatsoever, and I can safely say it was, to me, one of the most disappointing stories i've ever read (unless they make a sequel manga).

Can you even call a review where you leave all negative comments out a review..?

You're basically saying you should always talk about the good things in anime and never hate on anything about it because it's popular, that's still just silly pandering. If you always review everything positively then what's the point of a review?

Sorry but I don't understand your logic at all, but i won't argue with it either, it's not my thread after all.

Okay so doing a comparison is not a valid form of reviewing because god forbid someone insults SAO, got it.

I'll just leave it at that and say once again i think your review was spot on as were some of your other reviews, keep doing what you're doing :)

Do not turn this thread into an argument. This is the only warning I am giving. Act like the adults you are.

I will watch your review. I expect it dig into the flaws that are apparent. But I do agree that good pacing is important.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still trying to find an ideal pace. I do want to speak quickly but the tricky part there is not speaking too quickly. Something I apparently still need to work on, so thank you for that.

As for the second part, sorry if you disagreed but I was just trying to make a point of comparison but the only anime still really relevant and popular that I'm not too big on is SAO. Though I have yet to watch the second season so maybe it got better. This is also why the image I used to represent SAO was of season 1. It may not seem fully relevant but I think it related to the idea I was talking about leading into the actual review. And if it means anything I never explicitly said SAO was bad (Though I think it has a lot of problems) Just that popular anime doesn't have to mean good anime. If that bothered you then again, sorry.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback so far though. It really does mean a lot.

You poor soul.

Regarding that "debate" about SAO, it's definitely sensible to use comparison in a review, and especially so since SAO is popular, because that means it represents a "canon" of popularity, which makes it interesting to analyze and put in perspective with other works.

I happen to have a review of Log Horizon that I'll translate soon to submit as a sample for batman's thing, and in it I obviously draw comparisons with SAO, for example.

I expected this thread to be about reviewing Tokyo Ghoul. Yet we're all just reviewing......a review? How meta. I propose we next blend a blender, or cut a pair of scissors with another pair of scissors.
