doppel222 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Hello guys, I know some people ask this or things related to this stuff so it's gonna be annoying for some of you guys. I just became a NEET 3 months ago and spend most of my time watching anime and reading some visual novels but I felt something is not enough, how about I try to translate this? And I know a little knowledge about Japanese language. Before I go back working in the society, I want to try to do this. I'm still a beginner here, if you guys can help me for the programs that I need it'll be helpful. I also want to know which file contains the script. Here are types of files in Favorite: >bgm.bin >etc.bin >graph.bin >graph_bg.bin >graph_bs.bin >graph_sd.bin >graph_vis.bin >se.bin >se_env.bin >se_sys.bin >snow.hcb >voice.bin If I manage to translate at least 10 lines, I will continue working in this stuff. Thank you Update: The scripts are in the Snow.hcb file, I just need to know how to extract it. Quote
raphael512 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 hey dude whenever you need an extraction tool , look here:https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/4887-data-extraction-thread/ here's the link for the tool:http://asmodean.reverse.net/ my guess is that the scripts are in the etc.bin. Quote
doppel222 Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 I just found the script in the Snow.hcb I also found this thread in some forum: http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php/433568-Favorite-AstralAir-no-Shiroki-Towa-need-help-with-translation-project I just can't make it work Quote
raphael512 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 good for you but what do you mean can't make it work ?? Quote
doppel222 Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 That the procedure how to extract the script. He provided the code but I can't make it work. Quote
raphael512 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 yeah you need python here and compile it yourself. I'm also not quite sure this will work in your game because those codes are meant only for astral air no shiroki towa Quote
doppel222 Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 Yes, this is the error that I got Quote
doppel222 Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 I'm also trying to translate the same novel Quote
Decay Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I hope you figure this out and are capable of doing a better job than that guy's machine translation. Quote
Guest Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Can you provide the Snow.hcd file so we can try ourselves ? Quote
doppel222 Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 Currently trying to translate it I hope everything goes well. Quote
Guest Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 So you managed to make it work ? Can you confirm the method you linked here works ? And how you solved your problem. It can greatly help other members wanting to translate other Favorite novels. Quote
doppel222 Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 Go the to that link that I provided and read the comments, you can find more instructions in there. Here's the Snow.hcb Quote
Erogamer Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 If you are actually seriously going to translate this visual novel, that is awesome! I know A LOT of people would love to read this in English as would I. Quote
raphael512 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 i see you managed to do it .. why don't you work with the guy who helped you since this is a long vn .. Quote
Kelebek1 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Lol, that's my script. I thought I explained well in that thread how to use it... "script.py -e <filename>" to extract, "script.py -c" to compile the script.txt and strings.txt back into a Snow.hcb.new. But as I also said on there, I don't understand how one of the opcodes works properly, and editing lines before the main script very much can, and probably will, eventually cause crashes. So err, you may want to wait for someone to work that out. Quote
doppel222 Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 Update: I stopped translating AstralAir no Shiroki Towa. Someone is already started a project for that. So I moved to Koi Suru Kanojo no Bukiyou na Butai. I started translating it last week with the help from a translator of Yosuga no Sora. Don't get hype about this because this is not a official project, I'm just doing this to kill some time so no bad feeling about this guys. If I'm going to release some patch It'll just be a partial or just an interface. Quote
Decay Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Who's translating AstralAir? Please tell me you aren't referring to the guy using machine translation on Hongfire. Quote
Decay Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 You really don't need to be considerate for people using machine translations. This sounds harsh, but their projects don't actually mean anything and if AstralAir is the game you want to translate most, it's probably best to ignore the machine translations and create something actually proper and good. Nobody else in the scene really takes those projects into consideration when choosing their own. But if you're already set on Koikano, then I guess I shouldn't complain, since that one is more to my tastes. I look forward to whatever partials you put out. Quote
doppel222 Posted November 7, 2014 Author Posted November 7, 2014 Well, I really want to hire a translator that can use deep english words like the one in Grisaia. I really love reading those kind of sentences. And that's what a novel is. Quote
raphael512 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Well, I really want to hire a translator that can use deep english words like the one in Grisaia. I really love reading those kind of sentences. And that's what a novel is. why not form a tl group if you're planning to hire someone. Quote
interested translator Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Are you interested in Irotoridori no Sekai, by any chance? I'd be happy to switch to the editor position, if you'd like to translate. Astral Air is okay with me, too. I'm happy as long as we're working on a nakige. Quote
Zakamutt Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 On a tangent, does anyone know of any reinsertion tools for FAVORITE stuff? The Hoshimemo EH project still hasn't got any iirc, and staircase aren't really helping. Quote
