Chewy Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I was kinda..... preoccupied during the whole summer season and didn't watch anything pretty much so could people tell me what was worth watching and why? I really don't trust random ratings.... Quote
Nosebleed Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 The ones I believe were most noteworthy (and that I watched and enjoyed) were: Akame ga Kill Aldnoah.Zero Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun Hanayamata Hanamonogatari Zankyou no Terror Quote
Guest Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Ryuugajou no Nanana Maizokin Charrismatic characters, A little shonen-ish, but at least they don't fall in the usual clichés which I liked. Interesting story too. I really hope for a second season. Quote

Stray Cat Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun definitely. I also recommend Akame ga Kill and Rokujouma no Shinryakusha! Not that I've finished most of them. Quote

Nosebleed Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Rokujouma is just the generic romcom harem anime of the season, don't think it's that noteworthy. Unless you like harem romcoms, then sure, go ahead. Quote

Chewy Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Cause nothing interesting in Summer >.> And it's still good enough to be recommended :3 ! Quote
Nosebleed Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Summer was not completely worthless, there were some high production value anime. Out of my recommendations I'd definintely put Zankyou no Terror at the top. Was by far one of my favorites. It had a nice original story with very interesting characters and albeit some of the cliches it had a pretty nice conclusion. Overall it was really compelling and most people who I've recommended it to really enjoyed it. I also have to stress how hilarious Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is. To me Nanana was pretty average for example. It had very appealing characters and art but by the end I didn't really feel much about it, the story had a ton of subplots that were never fully explored and it just left me feeling incomplete. It wasn't boring but it gave me that open ending sort of feel that I usually hate. Quote
crunchytaco Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Gekkan Shoujo is the one I recommend the most. It's adaption was superior to the source material, considering how freaken great the source already was. The rest of the season was meh to me. Quote
Down Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 The one anime to watch from summer is Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun imo. Zankyou no Terror isn't bad but retrospectively not that memorable (I tend to be harsher on anime with serious plots). Also there was Space Dandy S2 but not sure how much you'd like that. Ao Haru Ride is definitely worth a watch too. Stray Cat 1 Quote
Jibril Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 GEKKAN SHOUJO NOZAKI-KUN FOR BEST ANIME OF SUMMMEEERRR~ Zankyou for original psychological series that's interesting but not too amazing. Fate Illya for a second season of lolis with amazing fight choreography and animation (need first season). Akame ga kill for blood, gore and girls. Aldnoah.zero for Gen Urobuch wild ride (or Sawano's wild ride). Tokyo Ghoul for black bars everywhere (Read manga, seriously or wait for DVD). SAO for Kirito traps and Sinon Ass Online. (soundtracks and animation only anime). Glasslip for the most disappointing anime of the year (aside the animation). Free for HOT GUYS YAY~ Quote

Okami Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Well it depends on what you like, for me those are the top ones from summer season: Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? (TV) Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei And other good ones are: Aldnoah.Zero Hanayamata Glasslip Tokyo Ghoul Sabagebu! Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun DRAMAtical Murder (If you don't mind Shonen-AI elements) Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 2wei! (You need to watch first season first) Hanamonogatari (You need to watch other Monogatari Series seasons first) And that's it, true if you watch unfinished Anime/Seasons there might be a few more as I don't watch unfinished ones. The Major Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Oh wow, I guess I don't have to say anything about Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. So... some shows from last season I would recommend are Rail Wars! and Space Dandy 2nd Season. Quote

Oiacz Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 If you want a good comedy and slice of life, I recomend Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Locodol. If you wand action, Akame ga Kill, or mecha, Aldnoah.Zero. Jinsei; Majimoji Rurumo and Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance were cool to laugh too. Quote
Nosebleed Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I disagree Rokujouma is above most other romcom harems because of several reasons. First one is that unlike in most others romcom harems where you can tell right from first episode who is a main heroine and main focus in anime Rokujouma doesn't have anything like that and focus is neatly divided between heroines, witch allready puts it above most other romcom harems. Second is that it has some amazing set of characters and pretty good characters development. Third is that story gets pretty interesting later on. solidbatman 1 Quote
Okami Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Right.. because no other harem romcom has ever focused individually on heroines ever. God forbid. And how could i forget the unique cast that consisted of generic cheerful girl, the senpai, the onee-san with big breasts, the super clumsy girl and the loli tsundere. And they all (mostly) magically love the protagonist. Boy I sure never saw that one before! And the story, oh gee individual arcs tied in by a minor unimportant plot element (a theatrical play) that only serve to say "here's this heroine's highlight" and then forgetting about it after. Such an amazing technique, I've never seen it in any other harem romcom. Truly a 10/10. Apologies for my ignorance and poor taste in anime for missing such a hidden unique gem. On a more serious note. I don't think Rokujouma is bad, it's just your typical harem romcom so you either like that type of stuff or you don't. They're all pretty much the same in the end except they use different settings/plot elements and in Rokujouma's case it was an unexplicable fascination with this one room where the protag lives in that is suddenly invaded by different supernatural beings. It was like a Kore wa Zombie desu ka? except they never bother explaining what's the story behind the room's magical powers. Quote
Eclipsed Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I haven't been watching much anime lately but with all of these recommendations for Gekkan Shoujo I may consider adding that to my list Quote
